Parkour is an exciting physical activity that used their bodies and surroundings to propel themselves around their environment. This form of sport was conducted in the safest manner and maintaining as much momentum as possible. Parkour was a form of holistic training developed from military obstacle course training and today; Parkour had gained a number of fans and followers worldwide in the Parkour movement.
The movie release, Brick Mansions, is coming soon to the screens on 24th April 2014. Cathay Cineplexes celebrated the upcoming movie release Brick Mansions with an exciting event, Brick Mansions Parkour Jam on 19th April 2014 at The Cathay. There were exciting line ups of Parkour action and Parkour beginner workshops, organised by Superfly Monkey Dragons, happening outside The Cathay from 4pm and it was fun to watch Parkour close up in action with the experienced practitioners performing Parkour movements, running, jumping and moving swiftly from one course to another.
This was my first time photographing Parkour action! It was a good and fun experience! I started to walk around the Parkour Jam event ground outside The Cathay, to have a feel of how the Brick Mansions Parkour Jam would turn out, where would be the good spots to cover and photograph Parkour close up action and event wide Parkour action of the entire ground. My choice of wide angle and telephoto zoom of 17-40mm f/4 and 70-200mm f/4 were an ideal combination to get the best of both worlds of Parkour action!
Parkour Workshop participants were enthusiastic and they were keen to learn and try out Parkour! As for the experienced Parkour practitioners, it was an eye-opener to their fast movements and actions such as jumping, spinning, somersaulting, flipping and sliding across various obstacles and platforms. Parkour is definitely a good sport to learn, enjoy and improve your sports photography action! From close up action below the platforms to standing a distance away from the platforms to capture Parkour action, I managed to show the beauty and art of Parkour.
