Canon Announced PowerShot G7 X Mark II

Canon recently announced a new and powerful compact series camera model to its line up, the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II. Let me share with you more information, photos and details on the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II from the press release information –

Canon launched the PowerShot G7 X Mark II, the latest addition to its premium range of G-series compact cameras and successor to the popular PowerShot G7 X. Like its predecessor, the PowerShot G7 X Mark II is distinguished by superb image quality with the small compact body. Powered by Canon’s new DIGIC 7 image processor, the PowerShot G7 X Mark II is equipped to detect and track subjects quicker and more accurately, providing users with better image quality and performance. Its large aperture f/1.8-f/2.8 4.2x zoom lens and the 20.1 megapixel 1.0-inch type back illuminated CMOS sensor provides the camera with beautiful background blurring reminiscent of DLSR photos. The camera’s improved image stabilization (IS) also allows for sharper detail, thereby achieving improved image clarity in dim settings even at higher ISO speeds.

“Equipped with the latest DIGIC 7 image processor, users of the PowerShot G7 X Mark II are empowered with near DSLR-level functionalities that will allow them to take stunningly beautiful pictures in different styles with ease. For example, users now have access to panning capabilities and RAW to JPEG conversion within a compact camera, providing them greater ease and convenience in use,” said Edwin Teoh, Head of Marketing, Singapore Operations, Canon Singapore.

Astounding DSLR-quality images provided by the new DIGIC 7 processor

Equipped with the latest DIGIC 7 Processor, the PowerShot G7 X Mark II is capable of delivering excellent photos of DSLR standards. With this chip, users can take crisp shots even in low-light conditions, as it can take photos at higher ISO speeds with greatly reduced noise, with camera and body shake virtually eliminated with its enhanced IS performance.

The new DIGIC 7 Processor in the PowerShot G7 X Mark II also enhances subject detection and tracking performance both automatically and specified by touch, ensuring that every movement will be captured in sharp focus. Tracking performance has also been improved to include animals and objects as well, making it an ideal camera for live shooting scenarios.

Two other components contribute to the PowerShot G7 X Mark II’s superb image quality: a larger than usual 1.0-inch CMOS sensor and a premium large diameter f/1.8-f/2.8 4.2x zoom lens. These two components make the most of their larger size to provide the DIGIC 7 with enough visual data to capture beautifully blurred backgrounds and details that would be impossible on a regular compact camera with a small sensor and standard lenses.

Enhanced user operability

The PowerShot G7 X Mark II is designed with a control ring around the camera lens to provide a tactile feel and more stable control of the camera. The control ring enables quick adjustments on settings such as shutter speed, aperture, manual focus, and zoom. Users can easily toggle between step and continuous control ring movement[1] using a switch on the side of the lens.

Operating the camera is effortless using the PowerShot G7 X Mark II’s touch screen LCD and its easily accessible functions or settings. The 1.04 million dots tiltable LCD screen also offers greater versatility to frame shots from any angle – 180 degrees for selfies, or 45 degrees and lower for shots from a higher angle.

Feature-filled PowerShot G7 X Mark II enables creativity

The PowerShot G7 X Mark II also enables users to take time-lapse photos easily in three pre-set scenes with different shooting intervals – 1 to 4 seconds, 5 to 10 seconds, and 11-30 seconds in Scenes 1, 2, and 3 respectively. With the new Time-Lapse Movie feature, users will have the option of enabling exposure tracking, in which exposure will be calculated for each shot, resulting in a smoother transition when capturing day-to-night Time-Lapse movies.

Users who want to take panning shots can do so easily with the new PowerShot G7 X Mark II. The PowerShot G7 X Mark II is intelligent enough to analyse the subject’s speed of movement and the camera’s panning speed, and automatically configures the camera settings to reduce blurring of the subject. This is achieved by altering the shutter speed or IS accordingly, resulting in a motion-blurred background that conveys a good impression of movement and speed, whilst the subject remains sharp in the foreground.

The PowerShot G7 X Mark II features a convenient in-camera RAW to JPEG conversion function. Coupled with its ability to process and convert multiple images simultaneously, this compact camera is sure to provide users with even greater convenience and productivity. Users can also adjust their images’ colour settings and apply photo effects through the PowerShot G7 X Mark II’s Picture Style feature before saving as a JPEG. These settings can also be saved and reused for future photos as well.
