Grumpy Cat – First Spotted in 2022

My first encounter with Grumpy Cat was at Malay Heritage Centre in January 2022, for “Some fowl play exploration and a security cat at Malay Heritage Centre”, taking some limelight, attention and affection from the people visiting the artworks.

Lying down on the side, enjoying its siesta in lepak mode. That was iconic and memorable, especially for us cat lovers! 

Grumpy Cat over the years (2022 – 2025)

While Grumpy Cat may not have a leading role in Yew Chong’s artistic paintings and exhibitions, its presence and aura was never underestimated. Visitors to Yew Chong’s exhibitions would definitely be able to spot Grumpy Cat presence in many of Yew Chong’s paintings, exhibitions and also as a standalone artwork.

Personally, I like Grumpy Cat with the local Singapore food delights, Grumpy Cat at Grumpitiam and Grumpy Cat at the Dragon Playground! Don’t miss the bigger Grumpy Cat artworks outside Fullerton Hotel, remember to take photos with them too, definitely awesome for Instagram and social media sharing! 

Since there is Grumpy Cat flying on a magic flying carpet as well as on a flying broom stick, maybe we can see Grumpy Cat in more iconic scenes in future edition! Hope to see a Darth Grumpy Cat in Lord Vader suit with the red lightsaber, May The Grumpy Meow Be With You!

Paw-verbs on the Lawn is Malay Heritage Centre latest installation, showcasing common Malay proverbs, highlighting how cats play a role in Malay literacy culture to deliver different forms of human behaviour and providing life long lessons. Paw-verbs on the Lawn is a collaboration between Malay Heritage Centre and Japanese artist Juno.

As a cat lover myself, I definitely have to visit and see for myself those kawaii neko-chan! It’s definitely worth a visit for all cat lovers! Those cat artworks not only depict our daily life, the proverbs written on the boards are educational and meaningful that we can learn from. 

All the cat artworks on display by Japanese artist Juno are so cute and adorable, you would feel that they are real and alive! They are also reflections of our daily life that you can relate to easily! As much as I want to share more kawaii 猫猫 artworks here, I would encourage you to visit Paw-verbs on the Lawn and have a purring meowing learning time at the Malay Heritage Centre! 

Paw-verbs on the Lawn artworks are on display on the lawn of the Malay Heritage Centre at Istana Kampong Gelam from 2nd March 2021 till 30th May 2021. Do share this event with your fellow cat lover friends and come on down for a purr-fect meowing experience of discovery and learning beloved proverb from the kawaii neko-chan on display.

The cats in my neighbourhood are very well taken care of, with love, care, attention and well fed too. I have one photo album dedicated to my neighbourhood cats on Flickr that I curated over the years. They have always been part of my subjects/themes whenever I am doing a camera review.

Here’s a short video of my cute and adorable neighbourhood cats, shot by me with the Canon EOS R6 and RF24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens, edited by fellow photographer Isaac Ong. 

A big thanks to Isaac for helping me out with video editing! He is a cat lover too, the text and descriptions inside the video that he edited are spot on! 

I would release more cat photographs that I shot with the Canon EOS R6 full-frame mirrorless camera in my upcoming Canon EOS R6 review article! Stay tuned and look out for it!
