ChefGenie – Singapore’s first AI-powered automated kitchen solution

ArtiChefGenie is Singapore’s first AI-powered automated kitchen solution, setting the stage for new era of food innovation in Singapore.

They are supported by EnterpriseSG, embarking on a 6-month F&B autonomous kitchen pilot around Singapore with local F&B brands. This pilot programme aims to trial autonomous kitchens as a manpower-lean format of expansion for F&B companies, and increase consumer receptivity towards those concepts.

This pilot programme was recently launched on 9th September 2025, at Punggol Digital District (PDD) by Guest of Honour, Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and Culture, Community, and Youth. The PDD is a testbed for smart solutions spanning JTC’s business park, the Singapore Institute of Technology, Punggol Coast Mall, public transport nodes and community amenities, enabling a diverse community to try out ChefGenie’s offerings.

At Singapore first autonomous international food fair, ChefGenie is bringing world flavours to life with precision and consistent quality. This event features eight homegrown brands, including Warong Pak Sapari (MICHELIN Bib Gourmand), Springleaf Prata (MICHELIN recommended), Eat Pizza, Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks, Takagi Ramen, Tuk Tuk Cha, The Hainan Story, and Instachef.

From hand-pulled prata to slow-brewed laksa broth, delicate Japanese ramen to traditional Taiwanese street snacks, the diversity and complexity of these dishes are made possible through ChefGenie’s proprietary smart cooking technology. The system is designed to replicate sophisticated cooking methods with precision, ensuring that each meal is prepared fresh and of restaurant quality.

Thoughts and Views from ChefGenie Official Media Launch Event

At the ChefGenie official media launch event on 9th September 2025, hearing the speeches, checking out how ChefGenie works and tasting some of their cuisines on offer, learning and understanding more about how technology innovation such as AI, can play a role in the F&B industry. I have been covering and writing about AI technology on my TGH Technology and Business portal/blog, and I can now add AI technology innovation coverage in the F&B industry.

Vending machine food quality and choices of food offered has become better with ChefGenie AI-powered automated kitchen solution. They are not going to (and will not) replace other F&B businesses, instead they plug a gap in offering more F&B choices at various locations in Singapore, from residential, schools, public spaces to industrial areas.

Ordering the food via the food kiosk or from the app, collecting the freshly cooked food from the vending machine, it was smooth and easy. Some cuisine might take a bit more time though. For someone like me who doesn’t buy much food from vending machines, or those microwaved frozen meals, I was impressed by the quality and consistency of some of the food that I tasted. 

I ordered a Butashoga Ramen during the ChefGenie official media launch event, for a ramen fan myself, I had to see and taste it for myself how would ramen turn out from a vending machine. Check out the photos below, from collection to eating a hearty hot ramen straight-out from ChefGenie vending machine. The Butashoga Ramen was good, I enjoyed it. 

Overall, I wasn’t able to try all the different cuisines on offer by ChefGenie, I would love to try out the prata by Springleaf (as a prata fan myself) and many more different cuisines on offer. I would check the ChefGenie app for the locations, and I would try out a different cuisine (and do my own food tasting) if I do come across a ChefGenie vending machine.

I have been working on GenerativeAI technology, experimenting, learning, writing and sharing more about this GenerativeAI technology, how it would impact photographers, videographers, creatives, artists, and content creators, in both positive and negative aspects. I am in the midst of compiling my research, learning and testing, I am also planning interviews with AI technology industry professionals as well as speaking to fellow photographers, videographers, creatives, artists, and content creators.

GenerativeAI artworks with Adobe Firefly – Generative Fill and Text to Image

With my Adobe Photography subscription plan, I went on to produce GenerativeAI artworks with Adobe Firefly – using their Generative Fill and Text to Image functions.

My first GenAI artworks project produced with a combination of my original photography works enhanced by Adobe Firefly Generative Fill is arriving soon. I am also testing TinTint from Taiwan, I would share more of my experiences on GenAI digital artworks on my TGH Photography and Travel website. Exploring GenerativeAI 

The areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been on my radar in recent months, doing in-depth research, learning and understanding the impacts of AI on creative and photography industries. I am exploring GenerativeAI, the potential impacts on my photography (both business and personal), as well as how GenerativeAI can help me in whatever ways possible. 

Creative photography projects 

I always had this mind block in my earlier years that I am not a creative or artistic person, my art and craft subject during my school days was that bad, I can’t really draw or paint well. Through this book, ‘No Missing Tools” written by Fernando Gros, I was enlightened, breaking away the shackles that I am not a creative person. Check out my book review here!

From publishing and printing my own photography zines, photo books, I am slowly exploring and discovering my creative side that I initially thought that I didn’t possess. Combining my photography, with me maiden attempt diving into writing poetry/short stories based on my photographs, typing it out on an old school typewriter, let’s see where this new creative photography journey brings me. 

Holding my own solo photography exhibition, in conjunction with a new photo book launch is also on my plans. I am definitely going to face some skepticism and naysayers. 

Return of taking in photography “padawans”

I used to have friends coming under my tutelage for a short period of time, going back probably a decade ago. Over my years of photography shooting, gaining more new skills, knowledge and experiences, opening my photography business, I am ready to take in photography disciples again.

For this time round, I am more ready, knowledgable and experienced. Hopefully, I am more prepared to train my young “padawans” better than my previous batch. 

Just like Ahsoka (Star Wars series), “Well, I suppose you do come from a a long line of non-traditional Jedi”.

Travel, Tourism and Hospitality 

I haven’t travel out for a holiday since 2019, I am making travel plans for Q4 2023, the time is now for me to bring back my travel visual storytelling, and hopefully reopen my travel photography and travel writing projects. Regional travel destinations would be on my initial list of countries. 

On the other hand, I am keeping my fingers crossed for some of my travel, tourism and hospitality projects/assignments to take off. This hasn’t been the easiest to break through over the years, even before the pandemic hits in 2020.

Disappointments, Challenges, Uncertainties and Seeking New Opportunities

Like a broker recorder, life is never smooth sailing, filled with disappointments, challenges, uncertainties. Life goes on, sometimes I share more here, sometimes I don’t share as much on social media as some might think otherwise. 

Life goes on, when one door closes, another door opens, finding new ways, new grounds, seeking new opportunities in an ever challenging and getting more difficult world ahead in Q4 2023 and YR2024.

Very few people know about some of my chess/tactical movements. If and when, the time is ripe, I might share more.

I don’t know how many of you would read my posts since I don’t post my lengthy writing on my personal FB, FB page or LinkedIN, like many of you on social media platforms. Some might prefer reading updates/posts on LinkedIN, personal FB or FB page.

Some PR folks do read my articles (and ranting), some friends read, not many overall I reckon. Most of them are probably watching videos on YouTube, TikTok and Reels, or overzealously posting updates and photos on their personal social media platforms, or sending them in group chats. 

Some care, many don’t, and a lot more will not bother to see or feel what is like in your shoes and situations that I am facing. 

A new month has begun – September 2023. Time to Reset, Readjust, Restart, Refocus, as I prepare for the final Q4 of YR2023.

TGH Technology Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The areas of AI has been on my radar, part of my technology writing and coverage that I would like to cover more in detail. On a professional and personal note, there were many a times when I thread AI on a thin grey line. On one hand, I am excited on the prospects, capabilities and how AI technology can help us in our work and life even better and further. On the other hand, I am worried that AI can take away some of our work, careers etc.

As I progressed further into the areas of AI learning and research, I had the opportunities to chat with Temus, that led to me working on an AI coverage with them, the two major articles were the “Fireside Chat with Temus and Qlik on 8th May 2023 – Key Takeaways on AI” and “Q&A on the impacts of AI, the human side of AI and fear of AI”. 

Those two major articles on AI paved the way for the establishment of my new segment TGH Technology Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

TGH Photography Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Expanding further on my new series, I am also interested, excited and concerned on the impacts of AI on photography and creative industries. That led me to kickstart another new segment, TGH Photography Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

I have also started exploring and testing Generative AI, tried out on some AI platforms, and produced a few media works. I have seen use case scenarios and examples shared on social media by other creatives, photographers, digital imaging artists. Some works were indeed close to being the real thing, that’s how far they have improved.

There are two digital images landscape style photos inside this article, the base photographs were taken by me, produced with Generative Fill tool using Adobe Photoshop (Beta) AI.

The rest of the digital images are produced using Adobe Express (Beta) using Text to Image Generative AI tool.   

During this learning series on AI, I would be publishing more interviews with different creative artists on their thoughts and views. Meanwhile, I am still consolidating more personal in-depth thoughts and views, to be shared down the road.

Matt Johnson from Temus (A Photography Master, an AI expert that breathes/lives AI in his technology role) 

A few months back, I was having a chat with Marcus Loh from Temus, having a coffee chat on my interest areas of focus in AI technology and the impacts on different industries, I mentioned that I am also planning to focus on the impacts of AI on photography and creative industries. Marcus mentioned to me that I have to speak to Matt Johnson from Temus.

In my earlier TGH Technology Research/Learning Series of Artificial Intelligence (AI) articles, Matt shared a lot of his expert views and insights on the impacts of AI, the human side of AI and fear of AI. When I first met Matt at the Fireside Chat, and heard him speak and share about his expertise and views on AI, I was blown away, he’s an AI expert that breathes/lives AI in his technology role.

Q&A Interview with Matt Johnson

Artist/Creative/Photographer profile questions

1) Would you mind giving us a short introduction about yourself and your creative fields of expertise?

My name is Matt Johnson and I am the Managing Director for AI & Data at Temus, a digital transformation consultancy. Temus is on a mission to unlock the value of data with AI, deliver positive disruptive change, and enhance the lives of citizens.

I am also a fine arts photographer and my photographs have been published by local and international media including the International Herald Tribune, Financial Times, Asian Geographic, The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao. 

2) What are the inspirations and stories behind your creative field that you are today?

There is a common misunderstanding that technical fields such as engineering and mathematics lack creativity. While these fields can be very complex, they require amazing creativity to deliver impactful change.

As a practicing artist and engineer, I find the diversity of experience to be enormously beneficial to both disciplines. I encourage my team to follow their curiosity and seek out diversity.

3) Do you have a piece of creative artwork/photograph that means a lot to you? Would you be able to share more about this artwork?

I am particularly proud of my series, Freudian Trilogy, which was exhibited at the Waterloo Arts Centre with the support of the National Arts Council. This work involved collaborations with local dance companies to co-create a uniquely Singaporean work. 

Generative AI and its impacts on creative, photography and artist industries 

4) The current topic of intense heated discussion is Artificial Intelligence (AI), what are your personal views and thoughts on this technology? What are the potential positive and negative impacts on the creative industry?

I am truly excited by the potential of AI and the impacts it will have on our lives. As the Managing Director for AI & Data at Temus, I live and breathe this technology on a daily basis, and oversee AI events and partnerships like our fireside chat with Qlik and our recent partnership with AISG that you probably already know about. Even as I interact with it day-to-day, I am constantly amazed at the capabilities and the potential of this technology. 

We are working with several clients to use Generative AI to address their specific challenges. The breadth of use cases is truly impressive from user generated art to financial analysis. As we explore new use cases, we continue to identify new opportunities and expect this to continue for some time.

When it comes to the creative industry, we’ve seen showcases of how AI (especially generative AI) makes art and other creative outputs more accessible to non-creatives. AI can also expedite the more mundane creative/artistic processes like retouching, colour correcting, etc., and enable a higher level of efficiency for creatives whose work have been traditionally extremely labour intensive.

Many industries have been disrupted by technology over the last three hundred years, from agriculture and textiles through to media and entertainment. The creative industry has already been fundamentally impacted by technology in the context of gaming, digital distribution and special effects.

While generative AI will surely create further disruption, it will not reduce our need for entertainment and art. It will simply increase what is possible and give us the opportunity to create more and better content.

5) Would Generative AI help us creatives, artists, photographers more in different ways that we can’t see it due to us creatives being in a blind spot? Or the onslaught of Generative AI is going to be detrimental for the creatives? 

Generative AI and all its different models are still early in their development cycle. It would be difficult to ascertain at this point, the extent to which Generative AI will impact the creative industry, especially with image models being even younger than Large Language Models, which are only about 5 years old. 

Presently, generative AI is already helpful in automating the creative process and production of the final artwork, and is quickly becoming a key part of the entire creative timeline. Some ways it can aid the creative process would be: 

• Generate ideas, be it musical notes or different visuals
• Analyse suggestions and recommendations from feedback, allowing future work to be refined
• Creating new colours/textures – increasing the options for artists

While generative AI will reduce the need for some mundane tasks and the people that support them, it will equally empower creators to be more creative and productive.

6) Do you think AI would be better for creatives in the hardware side (e.g. AI powered camera) versus in the software e.g. photo editing software, illustration software and AI powered apps?

While the early impact is on software, with applications like Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and Firefly, the impact on hardware is likely to become material over time.

Companies such as Tesla, DJI and Google are making steady and substantive progress on bringing AI to robotics in the context of self-driving cars, drones and robots. These capabilities will likely impact the creative industries too in the long run.

7) Which segments of the creative and arts industry would be most impacted by Generative AI? Artists? Photographers? Filmmakers?

AI is an awesome tool with the potential to make us superhuman. I believe that every part of the industry will be touched by the impacts of generative AI. It could supercharge the creative process, editing, rendering, graphic design, and more. However, AI development and applications of this technology is still in its infancy. It is still too premature to tell how and in what ways this technology will impact our society. 

8) Is Generative AI is going to take away the livelihood of the arts and creative industries? What are your personal thoughts and views on this point?

There will always be a certain level of fear and uncertainty when new technology is being introduced. Technological innovations are tools that disrupt the status quo, and in turn provide for higher standards and quality of life. Similarly, I believe AI will disrupt the way creatives and artists currently create and spur on more creativity in the industry. 

Innovation and technology are all about change – changing the way we work, the nature of work itself, and the way we live our lives. On this ever-evolving path of change, we need to focus on understanding the capability and changing the way we work to maximise its value.

9) What should/can creatives do to ensure that they survive and get through this generative AI technology disruption? Should we start to jump on the bandwagon and learn how to use Generative AI?

For sure! The technology is already helping many creatives do their work better from graphic designers and game artists to architects and stage designers. All the technologies are easily accessible and there are countless tutorials online. Moreover, using the technologies provides endless joy and entertainment.

Today is a great day to get started!

10) What do you envision the future for creatives in a new digital and social media world, powered by AI?

We sometimes forget how much progress we’ve made as a civilisation. Not so long ago, the creative industry was limited to chalk drawings on cave walls. We’ve come a long way since then and still have a long way to go. This Is a small but important step in our civilisation’s development.

1) Can you give us a short introduction on yourself and your creative fields of expertise?

Hello, my name is Agan Harahap. Photographer and artist based in Jogja, Indonesia. My base artistic expertise is photography and digital manipulation. And recently I’m using AI for my latest artworks.

2) What is the inspiration and the stories behind your creative work?

I always get my inspiration from my timeline in social media. Mostly is about politic, religion and history. I offer some silly solution for many problems that appear in society.

3) Do you have a piece of creative artwork or photograph that means a lot to you? Can you share more about this artwork?

The artwork that means a lot for me is my series ‘Mardijker Photo Studio’. I’m talking about nation identity and cultural originality and it’s connections with our society today.

4) Can you share about your journey as a creative/artist? What were some of the challenges, difficulties and setbacks that you faced in your creative journey? 

Well, it’s start in early 2000s at the beginning of digital transitions from manual. When suddenly we can almost create anything with digital software. At that time I already work as a photographer in music magazine. And I always challenged my self to dig more about other possibilities with digital photography. Asking my self is photography still can believed as a medium that can represent the reality. 

5) I read that you started off as an illustrator and digital imaging artist, what are the stories behind these experiences and how did you transition to photography?

As a graphic designer student, I have also learn photography. At that time, I don’t like photography because its expensive and don’t make sense to me. Because at that time I think photography is only for the people who cannot make a proper drawing or painting to express their ideas. And photography is their solution to cover up their inability to make art. Hahaha. But I have to pass the photography test in my study. So I learn how to manipulate photo with digital software. And I pass the test with success. And after graduate, I worked as a freelance illustrator and then become a digital imaging artist in some photography company before I become photographer in Trax Magazine. A music based magazine in Jakarta from 2006 – 2012. 

Generative AI Interview Questions

6) A topic of intense discussion currently is Artificial Intelligence (AI), what are your personal views and thoughts on AI? What is the potential positive and negative impact on the creative industry?

Based on my experienced in early 2000s when digital suddenly takeover many part in creative industry, So for me this is the new era when we have to preparing our self to this new kind of technology. For me, the main impact is the people’s way of thinking and behavior about things will change. And it will become a problem for people who cannot adapt their selves to this AI. So, like it or not, after more than 2 years we stayed at home because of covid, now suddenly we have to face this kind of technology and we have to adapt and adjust our self with it.

7) Do you think Generative AI can actually help us creatives, artists and photographers in ways that we may not see due to our personal bias or blind spots? Or do you think the onslaught of Generative AI will be detrimental for creatives? 

Before AI can help us in creativity, we first have to adapt and adjust ourself. Because at first, we have to positioning ourself between this new technology and our personal and social interest. For me, it’s quite similar like digital photography at the beginning, at the first we may think ‘Oh, with this tools, we don’t need dark room process anymore and we can save more time to create photography. But in the reality, there are many other problems arise due to this digital technology. Like for example, people start to questioning the reality behind photography ect. And after social media era, there is much more problems. We can see the rapid change in many aspects of our live. And that’s exactly will going to happen in our society with this AI technology.

Generative AI will be detrimental for creatives? It’s depend on how you adapt yourself.

At the beginning, the answer is yes. But along with that, the emergence of AI technology, it will open up many new opportunities that may have never been thought of.

10) How do you envision the future for creatives in a new digital and social media world, powered by AI?

Hahaha I can’t imagine it yet. But I believe, sooner or later this AI will change people’s mindset and behavior.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to provide drivers with a safer ride

Drivers and car owners would most welcome this safety measure – ADAS to provide drivers with a safer ride. The new Dash Cam Omni is AI-powered and it comes with ADAS that includes features such as front car alert, lane departure, and pedestrian passing alerts, providing drivers with safer rides.

The front car and pedestrian passing features warn riders with an audio notification when they are too close to other vehicles and pedestrians. Lane departure helps keep drivers within their lanes by tracking markings on the road and will inform them with an audio alert if they begin to drift out of the lane.

ADAS is usually found in premium cars, but Omni allows current car owners who do not have ADAS in their cars to enjoy these safety features as well.

Crystal clear recordings

The Dash Cam Omni camera can record at 1080p image resolution with smoother footage up to 60fps, making it perfect for picking up clear footage, especially on fast-moving vehicles.

With an aperture of f/1.5 and PureCel®Plus-S HDR technology, this camera can record clear videos even at night or in low light conditions, like in dark tunnels, giving car owners the assurance that they have well-illuminated footage of the surroundings and front cars’ license plates at all times.

The camera will detect and record up to five seconds prior and 10 seconds after should an accident occur. This aids in providing users, insurance companies, and law enforcement with complete video evidence of an accident.

Round-the-clock protection

There is an option of connecting a hardware kit with the Dash Cam Omni. This would provide power for additional features such as round-the-clock monitoring with time-lapse recording and parking surveillance thanks to AI motion and collision detection.

During parking surveillance mode, the AI detection enables the camera to identify and record (for up to 1 minute) suspicious personnel approaching the vehicle. It will also automatically rotate to the side of the impact if a collision is detected and perform continuous recording for up to 30s.

Connecting to the cloud with 4G

With the 4G hardwire kit, drivers can remotely monitor their vehicles 24/7 by controlling the camera via the 70mai app, which lets them view the interior and area surrounding the car. Users can also sync their recordings to the cloud (1), receive timely app alerts (2) on suspicious activity, and access the built-in GPS capabilities. The GPS helps users locate their vehicle precisely and access their route history via the 70mai app, perfect for finding one’s car in a crowded location.

Control the camera by voice!

To top it off, the Omni brings the fun, where users can use voice commands to ask the dashcam to shoot left/right, or even shoot a 15-second vlog and take a photo.

What is #Metazomia all about? This word comes from two things, the Metaverse and a metaphorical highland region in Southeast Asia. #Metazomia is a whimsical 360° immersive cinematic experience created by award-winning artist Brian Gothong Tan. 

Created from artificial intelligence and inspired by the adventures of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Tan’s cinematic experience looks at what the future may hold. The result: an epic melding of generative art and motion graphics that invite visitors to surrender to the meditative quality of the images.

I am looking forward to utilising Adobe Express further in time to come, I didn’t get to know more about this relatively new application or even use it, the new additional features are great for content creators to explore, create and showcase with their photographs, videos and design work.

From a holistic digital experience and services provision perspective, I have started to work on videos/vlogs a few years back, I am also expanding on publishing zines and books in the near future. 

My next creative tools/software that I would look more closely into, would be Premiere Rush (before I decide to go Premiere Pro) and InDesign.

Smile Tracking and Automatic Filtering

Using a unique algorithm that was developed over the years by Canon, the PowerShot  PICK will automatically search for faces of people nearby once it is switched on, adjusting the composition of the shot and shoot based on facial information with its pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) mechanism.

The intelligent technology behind the PowerShot PICK means that it can automatically shoots various scenes where people are smiling, with a variation of compositions. Subsequently, recommended scenes will be filtered from the many images taken, making it even easier to select and decide which images you would like to keep and share, saving time and effort.

Portable, Compact, and Lightweight

Weighing only approximately 170g (including the microSD card) and measuring under 9cm x 6cm in size, the PowerShot PICK can be carried along for use almost anywhere. The PTZ mechanism has a pan direction of maximum approximately ±170 degrees, tilt direction of a maximum approximate of 110 degrees and is capable of up to a maximum of 12x zoom, through a combination of a 3x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom.

The PowerShot PICK also has a wide-angle coverage of 19mm (in 35mm format equivalent), allowing large group of people to be included within the scene and it works well in small enclosed area. This allows users to place the camera at an easy angle to allow continuous footage shooting without having to worry about adjusting the camera. Up to 5 hours of video recording through the camera’s built-in battery allows the camera to be portable and can be used anywhere. Also, it can be charged via its USB-C port. 

Tracking and Image Stabilisation (IS)

Using Canon’s Nano USM technology, the PowerShot PICK is capable of silent and high-speed tracking, automatically tracking the subject so that the face stays within the angle of view even when the subject moves. The camera effectively suppresses blur by mechanically controlling the rotation angle of the lens barrel, ensuring the user will be able to get the clearest shots available without having to be physically present to ensure that the camera is focusing on the right targets, saving an incredible amount of time and providing tremendous efficiency when it comes to capturing your most memorable moments.

Customised Shooting with a Dedicated Smartphone App 

PowerShot PICK’s dedicated smartphone app (Connect app for Mini PTZ Cam) connects the user to the camera, providing a range of functions such as checking registered people, recommending photos and videos, camera notifications, viewing of captured still images and videos, remote camera control, camera settings, and the ability to generate highlight videos (only for iOS users).

When switched on, the PowerShot PICK searches for people in the surrounding and registers them automatically. Through the dedicated smartphone app, users can assign a name to a registered person and prioritise them by marking them as a “favourite”. Automatic shooting settings can also be customised, such as the search or zoom range preferences, capturing only still photos or both still photos and videos, and shooting period priority versus shooting frequency priority.

Given its small size and in-built tripod mount, there are a wide range of indoor and outdoor scenarios in which the PowerShot PICK can come in handy as it can be mounted on selfie sticks, tripods and even on bicycles or motorcycles, to record unique perspectives and key moments, ensuring that you never lose another precious moment amongst family and friends!

Video content creators would also find the PowerShot PICK helpful in shooting ‘how-to’ videos smoothly, be it in terms of cooking, makeup or even crafting. Through remote shooting, coupled with PTZ features, video expression can be expanded, and touch tracking can also be achieved via the app when used with the remote control functionality.

For important events such as weddings or concerts, the PowerShot PICK can also serve as a “B-cam” to capture behind-the-scenes (BTS) activities, such as the preparation process and the expressions of the audience.

Voice Commands and Webcam Support

Among the extensive features available on the PowerShot PICK, it also allows users to operate the camera through voice commands on four distinct functions – still photo shooting, changing subjects, starting of video recording, and stopping automatic shooting. This is all possible with the camera alone, without needing any cloud communication or wireless/wired connectivity.

The PowerShot PICK also supports seven languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. The camera also comes with webcam support, via the installation of the Wireless Webcam Utility for Mini PTZ Cam (a windows only PC app). The camera can be placed anywhere since it connects to the PC wirelessly and users are able to transfer camera images to the PC anywhere in real time. DigiMuse Presents is now taking place at the National Museum of Singapore, there are seven digitally-led protoype projects that makes a visitor’s tour of National Museum of Singapore exhibitions and galleries very interesting and interactive, a further in-depth exploration and better understanding of Singapore’s history, heritage and culture.

DigiMuse Presents is co-created with digital designers and creative professionals in partnership with cultural institutions and technology companies. The newest edition to the wider DigiMuse programme is an initiative by the National Museum of Singapore to lead a vibrant cultural sector invested in digital innovation. The following protype project were selected from a big and wide pool of entries from the inaugural DigiMuse Open Call for digital and innovation concepts that concluded in April this year 2018.

Director of the National Museum of Singapore, Angelita Teo, said, “We welcome thoughtful applications of technology that strengthen our visitors’ cognitive and emotional connections with Singapore’s history and heritage. Through creative integrations of culture and technology, along with collaborative industry partnerships, we hope to offer even more experiences that resonate with and inspire our visitors. We continue to be committed to growing the museum as a progressive cultural institution that challenges the boundaries of what is possible, driving innovation for the sector in our contributions to Singapore’s vibrant cultural landscape.”

Programme Director of the DigiMuse Project, Jervais Choo,added, “The DigiMuse initiative explores the intersection of technology and culture and opens a gateway for discovering our past to inspire future possibilities. The seven digitally-led protoype projects at DigiMuse Presents are on Levels 1 and 2 of the National Museum of Singapore. I had the opportunity to experience them, let me share more information and my experiences with the modern digital technology.

I tried it myself and I really liked it a lot! I have a feeling that this could be the most popular DigiMuse Presents protype projects, both young children and adults would like it!

It’s not back to the future, it’s back to the past, to the Colonial days inside the Crown Colony section of the Singapore History Gallery. While you are not traveling back in time in a time machine, with the application of AR technology, visitors can learn more about the Colonial days through this interactive journey.

Using digital 3D-printing technology, the traditional and iconic dresses and Peranakan accssories are re-intrepreted and created, could this be how Singapore’s fashion might look like in the future?

3D-printing technology might not be the most glamorous modern technology or the most well known technology today. However, their potential, capabalities and application should not be ruled out in how they can be applied in heritage, conservation and preservation segments.

Have you ever wonder what’s the job of a conservator really like? At Project Insight, with the help of the HoloLens, you can learn about the roles and job of a conservator, their conservation process, with a hands on experience at conserving a painting in MR technology.

( 6 ) Multiplicity by Big Red Button

Many a times, we hear viewpoints from one side, have we ever hear viewpoints from the other side of the spectrum? Through Multiplicity app, visitors can discover, hear and learn about the different viewpoints from historical characters through this experience. There is also a progress chart that can inform you on the time spent listening to each different viewpoints. At the end of your experience tour, you can form your own conclusion.

Would you like to ask William Farquhar a question or a few questions? Yes, now you can ask William at the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings, by snapping a photo or a drawing from the Goh Seng Choo Gallery, sending it via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.

Using AI chat bot, this interactive technology is very fun and interesting. Ask William a question or a few questions, it’s going to be fun! Oh yes, try not to be too cheeky with your questions when you ask William!

Personal thoughts and views on DigiMuse Presents at National Museum of Singapore

Exploring DigiMuse Presents at National Museum of Singapore is going to be a fun, interactive and experiential learning for everybody, from the young to the adults. Implementing modern and emerging digital technology such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), they can help to improve the learning experience and open up the world of musuems further and wider to the public. Visitors can get a feel of the jobs of those who worked in museums or gaining a deeper understanding and learning of our history, heritage and culture through the digital technology worlds of VR, AR and AI.

Moving ahead in the future, all these digital technology would definitely be useful for their exhibitions. It would definitely be interesting to view which of these digital technology would be chosen to be implemented in the museums around Singapore.

DigiMuse Presents at National Museum of Singapore is an excellent initative showcasing great examples of how different types of emerging modern digital technology can be embraced without fear, having a positive impact for experiential learning and engagement with visitors.
