Samsung Short & Sharp Festival 2025

For this year 2025, Samsung is partnering with Mediacorp to offer contestants the opportunity to be inspired by industry veterans and trailblazers on how they can supercharge their storytelling and filmmaking skills. 

Exciting prizes await budding filmmakers, they can stand to win $7,000 in prizes when they submit a short film of up to 60s that tell their stories in relation to the festival theme: “Supercharging My Now: Finding the Extraordinary in Everyday Singaporean Life.”

“Every Singaporean has a uniquely Singapore story to tell. And as we celebrate our 60 years of independence this year, we wanted Short & Sharp to be a platform for individuals to share their stories in a condensed, fit-for-mobile style, that is befitting of the changing consumer landscape today that is turning more to mobile platforms for entertainment. We hope Short & Sharp will become a springboard for aspiring filmmakers and content creators and inspire supercharged stories about our past, present and future”, said Lynn Chong, Director and Head of Brand Marketing, Mobile eXperience, Samsung Electronics Singapore.

Meet the Judges

Samsung Short & Sharp Film Festival entries will be assessed by Samsung along with a panel of industry trailblazers with unmatched filmmaking expertise. From award-winning productions to groundbreaking content creation, they represent the very best of the craft:

Loh Woon Woon – Executive Producer, Mediacorp 

Winner of the Best Director Award for the drama series, Against the Tide starring Christopher Lee and Rui En. Captivated over 1.8 million viewers across TV and digital platforms with her productions.

Jonathan Chia – Senior Producer, CNA

An award-winning documentary producer, Jonathan is best known for Walk the Line, a raw look into Chinese migrants’ journey to US border, which earned a Silver Award at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, and Best Documentary Series at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

Xiong Lingyi – Co-founder 01 Studio (Wah!Banana) @blingyi

Co-founder of Wah!Banana which boasts over 1 million subscribers. Lingyi brings over a decade of creative expertise paired with a sharp sense of humour.

How to Participate in Samsung Short & Sharp Festival 2025?

To all budding filmmakers & content creators with a passion for content creation, the application to participate in Short & Sharp 2025 is now open.

To enter, all you have to do is:

• Create a video of up to 60 seconds inspired by the theme “Supercharging My Now: Finding the Extraordinary in Everyday Singaporean Life” using any mobile phone.
• Upload the video publicly on your YouTube channel and include the hashtag #GalaxyAI and #ShortAndSharpSG
• Submit your entry online here

Application will be open from now until 23rd February 2025, 2359hrs.

Entries will be judged based on:

• Creativity 
• Adherence to the theme
• Overall storytelling impact

8 finalists will be selected to participate in a series of exclusive masterclasses hosted by an esteemed panel of judges and mentors. 

Finalists will also have the opportunity to create their own stunning content creation with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
