They would be ideal for those who are just starting into sports and/or wildlife photography, for those serious enthusiasts, I reckon. they would gladly welcome such a versatile super telephoto zoom lens especially if they are into sports and/or wildlife photography. As for professional photographers in the sports and/or wildlife segments, this might get their interest as well, as a backup or 2nd lens combo setup.

What is Let’s Take A Walk all about?

Let’s Take A Walk is an iconic overnight 100km charity walk, they are returning this year, with Ray of Hope as the chosen beneficiary. Ray of Hope is Singapore’s crowdfunding charity, dedicated to mobilising community resources and support for individuals and families in need.

Let’s Take A Walk is a community-driven initiative led by Raleigh Singapore, an organisation dedicated to making a positive impact through action. Through this annual charity walk event that is fully organised by volunteers, Let’s Take A Walk raises funds for various causes and promotes inclusivity and community spirit.

A Step Towards Inclusivity 

For Let’s Take A Walk 2023, they are taking a step towards inclusivity by introducing the 5km FamilyWalk. This is a specially designed route that is ramp-accessible, creating an opportunity for families and differently-abled individuals to join hands in the spirit of giving back. 

Adrian Chew, the co-chairman of Let’s Take A Walk 2023, said “I started my journey as a volunteer with Let’s Take A Walk 2013 and have continued to participate as both a volunteer and a walker ever since. The spirit of giving back to those in need deeply resonates with me, as some of the closest people to me have faced challenging times.”

The primary goal for this year is to unite 2,000 walkers, doubling last year’s target of 1,000 participants, in a unified effort to raise $100,000, less operating costs, for Ray of Hope.

As part of this collaboration, Casio launched a limited-edition Singapore Lions and G-SHOCK watch as a show of support towards Singapore Lions’ AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 campaign that would be held from 5th December 2021 to 1st January 2022 in Singapore. This limited-edition G-SHOCK watch uses the GBD-100-1A7 as the base model, G-SHOCK has infused a Singapore Lions inspired motif in the traditional red and white colours, into the watch design that will be worn by every member of the Singapore Men’s National Team and officials throughout the AFF Suzuki Cup Campaign.

Casio Singapore Pte. Ltd. Managing Director, Mr. Shigeru Watanabe and General Manager, Mr. Masakazu Sugawa visited the Jalan Besar Stadium recently to meet the FAS’ General Secretary, Mr Yazeen Buhari and National Team Head Coach, Mr Tatsuma Yoshida along with National Team Players, Shahdan Sulaiman and Gabriel Quak to unveil and present the Lions’ G-SHOCK watches before the National Team departs for their training camp in Dubai on Sunday, 7 November 2021.

According to the FAS General Secretary, Mr Yazeen Buhari, the collaboration with the Japanese watch company is testament that Singapore’s football scene is beginning to gain positive momentum from local organisations within the country.

“We are grateful for the faith and support that Casio Singapore has demonstrated to our AFF Suzuki Cup campaign. Despite these difficult years caused by the pandemic, we have seen many organisations step forward to show such unprecedented support to the local football scene. Prior to their official opening, I got the opportunity to visit UFIT Hub at Club Street for a preview. Located in the downtown area, between Chinatown and Raffles Place, it was an eye opener to visit an integrated fitness hub that operates differently from the other fitness centres in Singapore. UFIT Health and Fitness (UFIT), Singapore’s largest independently owned fitness community, celebrates a decade of success and the consolidation of their outlets into three integrated health and fitness hubs, along with ongoing digital transformation.

New Integrated Hubs

During the tour of UFIT Hub at Club Street, checking out their new machines, facilities and spaces for their health and fitness programs, they are running this new integrated health and fitness hub differently from the rest in the market. This is going to be personalised to each individual, from a health consultation to mark the starting point and their goals, to a personal trainer, physio, group classes, a personal nutrition plan or a combination of all of these services to suit each and every unique individual working out at UFIT Hub.

Special mention: Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

A segment that is usually not associated with many or most of the fitness centres in Singapore, most people would associate physiotherapy and rehabilitation with hospitals and specialist medical clinics.

During the preview tour, I learned about UFIT providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services as part of their holistic and high quality integrated service at their UFIT Hub. Being a patient myself and having to go through physiotherapy and rehabilitation previously (for my injuries), I was able to relate!

On this topic of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, a person who might have previous injuries or conditions that might need physiotherapy and rehabilitation to help you improve your daily living well-being, using a sports medicine/science approach with exercise and fitness machines/regimes might be more suitable for you.

Personal thoughts and views

UFIT Hub at Club Street, an all new integrated health and fitness hub, is a great example on how fitness centres can move forward into a new era, along with modern technology, digital transformation and sports medicine. It’s not just a gym whereby you go there to do your exercises and leave after that.

As a sports fanatic, football, basketball, running and a bit of rugby league, I loved my sports although I have pretty much slowed down. I was once into attending fitness centres some years back, on a membership scheme for a while before deciding not to continue with them.

Looking at how UFIT Hub Club Street direction and integration, I feel that this is the way to go for fitness centres moving forward and also for those who are really serious about getting fit and healthy, it’s not just about hitting the exercise machines thinking that you know everything about health and fitness. Nutrition, your health, direction, goals and plans are equally important and crucial.

A new three-year partnership with Singapore’s swimming star, Joseph Schooling, will see the Olympic & Asian Games gold medalist, and World Championships bronze medalist as the newest brand ambassador for Canon. Concurrently, Canon is also celebrating its 10^th year of partnership with the Singapore Bowling Federation (Singapore Bowling) and renewing its agreement to empower Singapore Bowling to continue grooming outstanding local bowlers.

The Green Corridor Run 2014, a unique trail run that starts from Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to Bukit Timah Railway Station, over a distance of 10.5km surrounded by the natural green environment and the Singapore heartlands. In their 2^nd year, it was great to see a great turnout of runners running in the Green Corridor running singlet and the runners blend themselves beautifully with the beautiful greenery of the Green Corridor/Rail Corridor. I was at the Kampung Bahru Road flyover and photographed the first and second wave of Green Corridor Run runners running out from the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station area and it was a nice sea of green runners among the greenery! The weather during the Green Corridor Run 2014 was very wet and kudos to the runners for completing the run in very wet and muddy conditions!

I wasn’t able to cover the Green Corridor Run 2014 from the Tanjong Pagar towards the end point at Bukit Timah Railway Station due to a clash of schedules, like what I did in the Green Corridor Run 2013. However, I hope that my small contribution in sharing about the Green Corridor Run 2014 and some photographs from the Green Corridor Run 2014 would encourage future Green Corridor runners to join! I also hope that more people would continue to love and explore our Green Corridor/Rail Corridor for leisure and recreational activities, along with the history and culture of the KTM Railway operations in Singapore.

I personally feel that the Green Corridor Run is great and suits the Green Corridor perfectly! Let’s keep the Green Corridor Run going in the years ahead and beyond! Let’s keep the Green Corridor status quo and an area for outdoor recreation, fun, healthy living and leisure activities!

When the news regarding the return of the KTM Railway land back to Singapore, I started photographing and documenting the Green Corridor before the last day of the KTM Railway operations, the changes and developments thereafter. It was a humbling and enriching journey since I grew up near the Old Jurong Line at Clementi during my primary school days and my secondary school was beside Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (10 years near/beside the KTM operations). Even though I did not take the KTM trains, they had been a part of my growing up life. Therefore, I had a strong interest in the Green Corridor and would continue to lend my support in terms of photographing and documenting my exploration stories. The Green Corridor Run was a great idea to push forward the agenda that the Green Corridor to be preserved and used for outdoor recreational activities such as running, cycling and trekking. Starting from Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to Bukit Timah Railway Station, over a distance of 10.5km, running pass the HDB heartlands and lush greenery along the former KTM Railway tracks route. I confessed that I was planning to sign up and run in the Green Corridor Run 2013 but I didn’t manage to sign up in time when the run reached their quota number of participants. Therefore, I went photographing at different segments of the Green Corridor Run starting from Buona Vista MRT station, overhead bridge near Ghim Moh HDB estate, bridge near Cold Storage Jelita at Holland Road, and finally Bukit Timah Railway Station. It was a sunny day with clear blue skies, while the weather was hot today, it was great for the Green Corridor Run!

Looking at the number of runners participating in the Green Corridor Run, it was really good to see and feel that Green Corridor has the potential to be a outdoor playground for Singaporeans to enjoy, relax, keep fit and healthy, enjoy the lush greenery and fresh air. The runners also stopped along the route to take photographs for memories sake. At the Bukit Timah Railway Station, the runners were happily taking photographs at the Bukit Timah Railway Station, the partial railway tracks that were preserved and the bridge across Bukit Timah Road/Dunearn Road. There were even people queuing up to take photographs with the Bukit Timah Railway Station signboard!  Nature Society Singapore (NSS) is the official charity partner and I had a good time catching up with the friendly folks from NSS, Kwok Peng and Hang Chong at the end point marquee, along with Eugene Tay from We Support The Green Corridor.

With a maiden and successful start, let us all make the Green Corridor a haven for everybody to relax, enjoy, exercise, keep fit and healthy, have fun, leisure and recreation among the lush greenery,  conservation and protection of the rich flora and fauna that Green Corridor is part of, the rich heritage, history and culture of the KTM Railway operations in Singapore.

That is why the Green Corridor is very important to Singapore and deserves to be preserved as it is, for the future generations.
