TGH Photography and Travel 20 Years Milestone Celebrations till date (April to June 2026)

Looking back at my TGH Photography and Travel 20 Years milestone celebrations till date from April to June 2026, there wasn’t much celebrations till date. I hope that I can organise a few more small different gatherings to catch up, thanking them for their support over the years.

I am going to start working on my 20 years milestone celebrations photography zine in July 2026, curating a list of photography works from my past 20 years for further curation, layout and planning.

Also as part of my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog 20 years milestone celebrations, I have embarked on curating 20 selected photography prints from my collections that I would gift away to my friends and supporters. The first photography print given away is the photo print exhibited at 21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2026.

My situation is still fluid, I am still striking a fine balance between caregiver role at home, and everything else, I am still working to secure more photography projects and shoots, in an ongoing very challenging and disruptive world today, slowing world economy and more uncertainties, coupled with more curveballs from technology disruptions by AI.

Personal Photography Time

While my personal photography time has been reduced due to changes at home, taking on the caregiver role as well as helping out in household work. I would still continue to navigate my journey of balancing photography business, personal photography, caregiver, taking care of home and the rest of my other things in life. I am currently working on finding a balance, planning and strategically allocating precious time for my own personal photography.

Documenting Old and Disappearing Places/Buildings in July 2026

Harbourfront Singapore would close from 27th July 2026, it’s a place I grew up with during my childhood to school days, knowing it as World Trade Centre, bringing back many nostalgic memories. 

I have to plan my time to photograph and document Harbourfront before its impending closure at the end of July 2026.

20th Edition Canon PhotoMarathon 2026 Singapore 25th July 2026

Canon Singapore announced Your Canon Event, a three day event celebrating creativity, making and play, coming together from 23rd to 25th July 2026 at Urban Park @ Guoco Tower, Singapore. This event brings together the first of its kind maker festival event across two days, along with the landmark 20th edition of Canon PhotoMarathon on 25th July 2026, celebrating over two decades of this photography competition in Singapore.

NDP 2026 Rehearsals 

National Day Parade (NDP) 2026 rehearsals are taking place in July 2026, it would be held at Sports Hub. The fireworks would be at Kallang Basin, if you are keen to photograph NDP 2026 rehearsal fireworks, that’s the place for you. 

Personal Updates

My status quo is still the same, I am still finding the balance between being a caregiver role at home, along with everything else. This still remains a delicate and tricky situation. It’s not going to get easier, probably gets more challenging and difficult down the road. 

There are good days, there are bad days, who can understand, who can empathise, without judgement? Nobody can see or feel the amount of stress, pressure, emotional and mental drain inside us caregivers. 

July 2026! Let’s Go!

Even though I am still constantly finding and striking a balance between caregiver role, taking care of some household work and everything else, I would still work towards a fun and creative July 2026! Let’s Go!

The Hainanese Cooked presents Bo’ Hou and the Grand Feast – A Stamp Rally

This project, The Hainanese Cooked presents Bo’ Hou and the Grand Feast – A Stamp Rally, is developed as part of TF-NUS Heritage Champions programme. It is made possible with support from NUS Libraries, Temasek Foundation and National Heritage Board.

The Hainanese Cooked Team are a group of NUS students, Wee Liang, Chuen Shin and V-Nying, strong and shared love for built heritage and yummy food, focusing on the old Hainanese community near Beach Road, and subsequently on Hainanese businesses in the area.

Wee Liang, Chuen Shin and V-Nying have done a great job in planning, researching, and bringing this fun and interesting stamp rally self-guided walk into action, kudos to the younger generation Z folks, taking on the baton for the history, heritage, culture, conservation and intangible cultural heritage sectors in Singapore! They are also featured on Lianhe Zaobao newspaper and digital website on 5th July 2026! Congratulations on a great achievement!

Grumpy Cat – First Spotted in 2022

My first encounter with Grumpy Cat was at Malay Heritage Centre in January 2022, for “Some fowl play exploration and a security cat at Malay Heritage Centre”, taking some limelight, attention and affection from the people visiting the artworks.

Lying down on the side, enjoying its siesta in lepak mode. That was iconic and memorable, especially for us cat lovers! 

Grumpy Cat over the years (2022 – 2025)

While Grumpy Cat may not have a leading role in Yew Chong’s artistic paintings and exhibitions, its presence and aura was never underestimated. Visitors to Yew Chong’s exhibitions would definitely be able to spot Grumpy Cat presence in many of Yew Chong’s paintings, exhibitions and also as a standalone artwork.

Maiden Participation in 20th Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition (NAPE) 2025

My maiden experience participating and also getting selected for NAPE was in 2025. At that time, it was a mix of joy, happiness, anxiety (what do I need to do, how to do it, etc etc), rich humbling experience, and immense satisfaction.

Earlier in March 2026, I shared a post on call for entries for 21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition. With a little bit of experience from my 2025 submission and selection, why not try again for this year 21st NAPE 2026, and see how it turns out for me?

Year 2026 marks a special milestone for me, celebrating my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog 20 years milestone. If one or two of my photographs submission get selected, it would be a  great honour, as well as a grateful humbling achievement to mark my 20 years milestone celebration too!

I started digging through my photography archives, curated a few photographs for consideration before making my final decision on the two photographs for NAPE 2026 submission before the closing date on 12th April 2026. 

Since the 21st NAPE theme is “Open”, I entered with no expectations, nothing is guaranteed in life. Close to the end of April 2026, I received a email that one of my photography artworks was selected for the 21st NAPE 2026!

I was honoured and delighted to have a photography artwork selected for this year 21st NAPE 2026! This small personal achievement is now a part of my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog 20 years milestone celebrations! 

21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition (NAPE) 

Leading up to the 21st NAPE 2026, I know the workflow, preparation and photo printing needed for submission, therefore I wasn’t anxious like last year! Once the administrative segment was completed, it was waiting for the 21st NAPE to officially open, taking place on Saturday 13th June 2026.

The Ngee Ann Photographer of the Year 2026 gores to Mr Seah Liang Bing PBM, his public talk on “Observing Life Through Street Photography” was insightful and a good reminder on the genre of street photography. This year 21st NAPE 2026 also features a special tribute to three respected late photographers, Mr Tan Lip Seng, Mr Foo Tee Jun, and Mr Desmond Teo Puay Chuan. 

Beyond observing fellow photographers artworks across a diverse range of photography genres, this was also a time to catch up with photographer friends, taking photos of each other since we usually don’t get photographed as we are usually engrossed in capturing priceless moments and memories.

A big thank you to Ngee Ann Cultural Centre for selecting my photography artwork titled “Beautiful City in Nature Mist” from the vast number of submission entries for this year’s 21st NAPE!

TGH Photography and Travel 20 Years Milestone Celebrations till date (April to May 2026)

Looking back at my TGH Photography and Travel 20 Years milestone celebrations till date from April to May 2026, there wasn’t much celebrations and I hope that I can do a few more group celebrations.

I have yet to start working on my 20 years milestone celebrations photography zine, I would need to start on this personal photography zine project soon! There is also an idea/inspiration to print 20 selected 12×18 photography prints from my collections as part of my 20 years milestone celebrations. 

TGH Photography and Travel 20 Years Milestone Profile Shoot

While waiting for my new PGYTECH OneMo Tactical photography backpack and accessories (customised patches, new hats, new t-shirt) to arrive, I was coordinating, planning and discussing on my 20 years milestone profile with my disciple/intern Jermine, guiding and mentoring her along the way. Finally, my 20 years milestone portraiture profile shoot finally took place at the end of May 2026!

A fresh new profile shoot, something very different from previous profile photo editions, no more mysterious profile look with sunglasses and balaclava. I would be curating the new profile photo for my social media accounts soon!

Heroic Moves: Chinese Martial Arts in Singapore Popular Culture

Heroic Moves: Chinese Martial Arts in Singapore Popular Culture features over 60 objects and images, as well as interactive photo-taking spots. This exhibition explores how Chinese martial arts became an integral part of Singapore’s local popular culture while delivering the values of associated with the chivalrous world of Chinese martial arts.

5 Thematic Zones 

There are 5 thematic zones at Heroic Moves: Chinese Martial Arts in Singapore Popular Culture exhibition. 

Zone 1 – Overview

The first zone gives an overview of the exhibition themes and the development of Chinese martial arts in Singapore. The following pioneers are spotlighted, Singapore Chin Woo (Athletic) Association and Guang Wu Club, offering Chinese martial arts training to the public.

Zone 2 – Wuxia Novels 

Wuxia novels were popular in Singapore during the 1960s, thanks to serialisation by local Chinese newspapers. Check out the reproduced works by three famous Wuxia novelists, Liang Yusheng, Jin Yong and Gu Long. They are showcased through interactive tactile roller, visitors can learn more about Wuxia novels. 

Zone 3 – Wuxia and Kung Fu movies 

Most people would be able to relate in this zone, the Wuxia and Kung Fu movies that were popular in Singapore, check out those memorabilia such as posters, cards and magazines! Do you remember some of these iconic movies, One-Armed Swordsman (1967), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Drunken Master (1978) and the Ip Man series (2008 to 2019)?

Don’t miss the fun feature, flip books depicting the respective fight styles in Wuxia and Kung Fu movies. 

Zone 4 – Chinese Martial Arts Comic Books

Comic book buffs/collectors would love this zone on Chinese martial arts comic books. They were introduced to readers in Singapore in the 1970s. Check out the interactive roller with different clothing options for visitors to customise the overall look of their own Wuxia character.

If you are a fan of local artist Wee Tian Beng’s comic rendition of “Return of the Condor Heroes (1996 to 1998)”, don’t miss this photo spot! 

Nostalgia for me when I saw the Return of the Condor Heroes series, I collected them, I think my collection is somewhere in my home! 

Zone 5 – Local Wuxia and Kung Fu Television Drama 

Our local Wuxia and Kung Fu television drama serials, from the Wuxia dramas in the 1980s, and Kung Fu dramas from the 2000s, do you remember watching them during your growing up years?

Check out the posters, photos and scenes of these TV dramas, including Pursuit (1984), Return of the Condor Heroes (1998), The Challenge (2001), and The Good Fight (2019).

SCCC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alvin Tan, said, “Through this exhibition, we hope to raise public awareness and appreciation of Chinese martial arts; showcase its evolution into a cultural asset beloved by many; and contribute to ongoing efforts to promote Chinese martial arts as an important component of the local Chinese community’s cultural and sporting heritage.”

Travelling Exhibition 

Heroic Moves: Chinese Martial Arts in Singapore Popular Culture started off at Westgate Level 1 Courtyard (Outside Main Entrance) from 29th April to 17th May 2026. This travelling exhibition is now at Pasir Ris Mall Level 2 from 18th May to 31st May 2026, before travelling to Junction 8 Level 1 (Outside Toast Box) from 1st June to 14th June 2026, and more venues around Singapore from 29th April to 30th October 2026.

SCCC Cultural Playground 2026 – A Children’s Festival

This is SCCC’s first children’s festival for children (aged 12 and below), offering performances, interactive workshops, and family-friendly programmes – all in Mandarin! 

SCCC’s Cultural Playground 2026 is based on the theme of “Tales and Tunes”, they will feature family-friendly offerings from Paper Monkey Theatre, The Theatre Practice, LittleCr3atures, BrookieKids, and more!

Cultural Playground – A Children’s Festival, taking place from 19th to 21st June 2026 at SCCC, invites your family and children to visit SCCC, discover and experience Singapore Chinese culture through stories, music, and play, from a total of 16 programmes. 

Key Highlight – The Legend of Nezha 

One of the key highlights will be the Legend of Nezha puppetry performance by Paper Monkey Theatre, they will bring the legendary tale of Nezha to life through exquisitely handcrafted rod puppets. 

The puppetry performance will also feature a dragon dance, a dynamic live martial arts segment, original music by The Flame of the Forest and local musician Govin Tan, as well as complementary hands-n workshop for children to learn the art of traditional Chinese rod puppetry as well as how to animate hand-crafted puppets. 

Key Highlight – 4th Edition of The Nursery Rhymes

Another key highlight of SCCC Cultural Playground will be the launch of the fourth edition of The Nursery Rhymes Project by The Theatre Practice. Based on the theme of “Imagine Our Songs”, the performance reimagines classic local Mandarin nursery rhymes such as Xiao Bai Chuan 《小白船》and Mothers Are Best 《世上只有妈妈好》through music and interactive theatrical storytelling as a means of engaging children and nurturing their appreciation of the Chinese language from an early age.

Multi-sensory workshops for babies and toddlers

Cultural Playground 2026 also offers multi-sensory music workshops for babies and toddlers aged 0 to 18 months. Anchored in the well-known children’s song Xiao Bai Chuan 《小白船》and grounded in SonicPlay, an evidence-based pedagogy. Those workshops position listening as the foundation of learning, and sound as a primary medium for connection, cultural awareness, and meaning-making.

Cultural Playground festival also offers parent-child workshops such as:

• Storytelling with food-making workshops: where parents and children can enjoy stores of family, memories, and everyday traditions through storytelling, food-making, games and more.
• Picture book interactive storytelling workshops: where families will be introduced to elements of local Chinese culture through interactive storytelling, movement, and traditional games for young children.

Workshops for Parents

Parents play an important role in instilling interest and shaping their children’s appreciation for their mother tongue language. Cultural Playground 2026 recognises that, this festival is offering two free parental workshops where a curriculum specialist will share practical ways for parents to make learning Chinese fun and meaningful by weaving language-learning into everyday experiences.

Storytelling Sessions on History and Traditions of Chingay

Cultural Playground 2026 also offers a series of free storytelling sessions in collaboration with People’s Association on the history and traditions of Chingay, and fringe activities such as face-painting.

SCCC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alvin Tan, said: “Through the festival, we hope to spark an interest in local Chinese culture and language amongst young children, and encourage learning through play, hands-on activities and immersive experiences. We also hope that children and their parents would enjoy themselves and create lasting memories of their encounters with culture and language.”

Kickstarting 20 Years Milestone Celebrations April 2026 

In April 2026, I am going to celebrate my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog 20 years milestone (since I began my visual storytelling journey in April 2006). 

Counting down to 10th April 2026, I am looking back at my past 20 years journey here, collecting and writing my thoughts, feelings, and emotions, my visual stories and memories, milestones and achievements over the past 20 years, I will be sharing more on the day in April 2026 when I celebrate this 20 years milestone.

Maybe I might end up writing a lot (a.k.a. ranting) more than usual, making me sound like a broken recorder playing on repeat, I won’t know yet, I would just let my feelings, emotions and thoughts flow through into my writing and visual storytelling as I work towards my 20 years milestone celebration story.

I am still seeking collaborations, partnerships and sponsorships to mark my 20 years milestone celebrations, whether it’s in the photography, travel or content creation space, I understand that it’s going to be challenging in this current economic and political uncertainties. 20 Years Milestone Celebrations Plans for April 2026

I am not rushing to squeeze every plans that I have for my 20 years milestone celebrations in the month of April 2026, taking it easy, spreading them out over a few months. Planning a few small dinner gatherings with small close group of friends that supported me in this journey till date, also with partnerships and collaborations in my photography business and content creation segments.

Photography (Business) 

Just for this month of April 2026, I would make an exception by not sharing or discussing on my photography business side of things. I would definitely be working on my photography business whenever the opportunity arises during this month.

Photography (Personal) / Visual Storytelling / Content Creation

Since this month of April 2026 is a major milestone for me, my personal photography / visual storytelling / content creation would be around the topics of milestone celebrations, gatherings over dinner or lunch, launching my personal photography zine projects to mark this 20 years milestone, as well as continuing my heritage, culture and arts visual storytelling.

21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2026 (NAPE)

I am curating my entry submissions for the 21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2026 (NAPE) in April 2026, submitting them before the submission deadline. Keeping my fingers crossed that one of my photography submissions would be selected. 

Personal

The roles of a caregiver and taking care of some segments of my household matters are now an intergral part of my daily life. Not as straightforward as I would like it to be,  I am still learning to juggle and balance my photography business, content creation, personal life and also as a caregiver for my elderly parents, especially for my Mum.

Past few months has placed me under a lot of pressure and stress, emotionally and mentally drained. No matter what, I still have to persevere and carry on forward. Thankful to friends who gently reminded me to take good care of myself, or else I won’t be able to take on my caregiver duties.

As I have to juggle running my photography business, digital marketing and content creation with caregiver duties, it’s a delicate balancing act, I am still leaning and adapting changes to how I can best optimise my business operations. 

This is an ongoing journey, I would work to the best of my ability, strategising and adapting accordingly to my situation.

Photography (Personal) / Visual Storytelling / Content Creation

In the month of March 2026, I would continue to work on heritage and culture visual storytelling content, while continuing to earn my revenue through my photography business side, I am also working on my personal photography projects and areas of interest for visual storytelling documentation. Meanwhile, I would be catching up on sharing photography related news, as well as smartphone photography news that is catching a lot of attention during Mobile World Congress 2026.

From personal photography theme projects, to Fire Dragon ritual coming back again in March 2026, a good mix of different photography genres to work on in March 2026.

21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2026 (NAPE)

Meanwhile, I would be curating my entry submissions for the 21st Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition 2026 (NAPE) in April 2026, Whether my submissions are accepted for this year’s exhibition, have to wait and see. 

20 Years Milestone Planning for April 2026 

Coming soon in April 2026, I am going to celebrate my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog 20 years milestone (since I began my visual storytelling journey in April 2006). I am still learning to juggle and balance my photography business, content creation, personal life and also as a caregiver for my elderly parents. The past few months had been very stressful as I took on more responsibilities as a caregiver. I would have a better grasp of the situation, and how I can plan to adapt and manage, when the official medical prognosis is out for my Mum during her upcoming geriatric specialist appointment in this month.

This Chinese New Year (CNY) 2026, it’s a quiet, slow and low key celebrations for me due to the passing of my 姑姑 (paternal auntie, my Dad’s youngest sister) about a week before CNY 2026, missing her big smile, warmest and caring personality. Besides that, balancing a caregiver role for my Mum over the past few months took a mental and emotional toll on me.

Instead, I took this CNY 2026 period to take more time to rest while I am still finding a balance point in caregiving, running my photography business and other different areas of writing/work. Meanwhile, I am getting myself back in action, stepping up the gears and kickstarting the journey ahead in the Year of the Horse.

In most of my previous CNY greetings, I would usually publish it on CNY Day 1 of Day 2, for this year, I posted in on CNY Day 9, a special day for the Hokkien community, 天宫诞, 敬天公，求平安，愿顺顺利利一整年!

Once again, I would still like to wish everyone Happy Chinese New Year! As the Horse runs free and strong, may you charge ahead with courage and unstoppable momentum this year! 祝大家新年快乐，万事如意，身体健康，心想事成！马年大吉，万事如意，愿你新的一年马到成功！
