History of Lamb Weston

Lamb Weston was founded in 1950 by Gilbert Lamb, on a small farm in Weston, in the Pacific Northwest of the United States of America. They have grown into one of the world’s largest frozen potato companies and a trusted partner for restaurants worldwide. 

Over the decades, Lamb Weston has led the industry in innovation – from inventing the water gun knife (an innovative potato cutting technology), in the 1960s to pioneering its proprietary Stealth batter coating and developing a variety of unique fry cuts enjoyed by consumers globally.

Lamb Weston new retail range brings four distinct fry styles to Singapore, each designed to deliver crispy perfection every time:

2. Grill Fries: Bold crinkle grooves seasoned with salt and pepper for a crunchy exterior and fluffy interior
3. Ziggy Fries: Signature zig-zag cut with deep ridges for unbeatable crispiness 
4. Potato Dippers: Unique scoop-shaped fries perfect for dipping, sharing, and adding fun to any meal

Each fry is coated with Lamb Weston’s exclusive Stealth batter, an invisible coating that locks in crispiness for twice as long as the regular fries – whether cooked in the oven or air fryer. All products are Halal-certified, vegan, and gluten-free, catering a diverse group of dietary preferences. 

Sustainability at the core

With sustainability at the core, Lamb Weston goes beyond production innovation with its sustainable packaging. The new retail packs are 20% thinner and contain at least 60% bio-renewable polyethylene made from used cooking oil, cutting their carbon footprint by around 30% compared to conventional packaging. 

This initiative supports Lamb Westons’s global sustainability targets to halve food waste and reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2033.

Exclusive launch offers in Singapore

Lamb Weston is celebrating its debut in Singapore, the fries are available at a special introductory price of SGD$6.15 (usual price of SGD$6.65) for a limited time at FairPrice stores across Singapore.

From 22nd November 2025, there will be weekend sampling roadshows held at select FairPrice locations, where shoppers can taste the new fries and redeem a free Lamb Weston Fry Clip Fridge Magnet – a fun and practical food sealer shaped like a fry – with any two-pack purchase in a single transaction. Redemptions are available only during sampling events and while stocks last.

Experience More with Capture SG60 by RSP & HONOR

HONOR recently launched a foldable smartphone, HONOR Magic V5, and this is Singapore’s SG60 birthday year, HONOR is celebrating this milestone by inviting the public to photograph Singapore’s city architectural journey, from iconic landmarks to everyday spaces.

Alan Photo Competition – Catch the Moment

Alan Photo Singapore announced a photo completion titled, “Catch the Moment”, inviting photographers to show a side of Singapore that most people never notice. That sounds like a pretty nice theme to participate in, showcasing many different sights and views of Singapore that most people never notice.

The competition period is from 1 – 30 September 2025, if you are keen to participate or find out more information, you can check out Alan Photo social media pages. I am going to enter and see how it goes for me.

NUSPS Montage 2025 Seminar – Not a winner | A Photograph on Display

The NUSPS Montage 2025 Seminar took place on 23rd August 2025, I attended the Montage 2025 seminar, listening to talks by professionals, photo exhibition and prize presentation.

The winning entries for NUSPS Montage 2025 were on display at Montage 2025 Seminar, together with the other top entries for this photo competition. Although I didn’t win any prizes at Montage 2025 photo competition, I did have a photograph printed on display at NUSPS Montage 2025 Seminar. 

Overall, a small consolation and recognition, this was also a good experience for me participating in Montage 2025 photo competition, a great NUSPS Montage 2025 seminar lineup of speakers, and last but not least, catching up with friends from Canon Singapore and photographer friends from various photography groups in Singapore, friends from the former Canon EOS World community, KOMMUNITY, and SG Storm Trackers.

1st National Photography Art Exhibition (NPAE) 2025 in October 2025

I am still waiting for more information and details on the 1st National Photography Art Exhibition (NPAE) 2025 that is taking place in October 2025. Keep a lookout for their event!

Visual Storytelling / Content Creation

Working towards my SG60 Visual Storytelling Personal Project 

I am working towards and closer to my SG60 visual storytelling personal project, writing down more ideas and inspirations. There are two ideas/plans in my mind as follows below:

1) Notebook A5 size

My first idea/plan to get an existing notebook A5 size, curating my 60 photographs to mark SG60 celebrations, this would more handicraft and hands on making a zine style photo book. Not likely to be in mass production, more of on a request/order basis for friends and supporters, whether based in Singapore or overseas.

2) Photography Zine with design and layout 

The second would be designed with layout for printing and sale on ad-hoc basis or in bulk printing, along the A5 notebook size. This would allow me to have a discussion with publishers or photography printing houses, and also place my photography zine in their library.

Ready for Migratory Bird Photography Season Q3 2025 to Q1 2026

The early migratory birds have started arriving in Singapore, some are earlier than expected. I am ready for migratory bird photography season starting in September 2025 leading up to Q1 2026. Making plans to visit various nature reserves and parks for migratory bird photography, as well as nature, landscape, creating travel articles and my own nature and outdoors therapy with my photography.

Heritage, Culture, Arts, Performing Arts and Creative Sectors

A fruitful month of August 2025 in the heritage, culture, arts and performing arts sector. At this moment, they are more of a personal visual storytelling and documentation. I do hope there would be some of renumeration/commissioned work would materialise down the road with some of those heritage, culture, arts and performing arts sector.

Discussions on doing more, collaborating with other like-minded heritage, culture and arts advocates in other fields are still ongoing. When it starts to gain more traction, I would share more details. Meanwhile, keep a lookout for more visual stories of my heritage, culture, arts and performing arts sector.

The State of the Heritage, Culture, Arts, Performing Arts and Creative Sectors in Singapore

In August 2025, The Projector suddenly announced its closure, sending shock waves, disappointments, a wake up call and a reality check for arts, culture, creatives, filmmakers, photographers, media production and those working in related industries. 

From the costs of running a business in Singapore (let alone a business in the arts, creatives, cultural industry), changing media landscape, the types of entertainment and media we are consuming in today’s climate. Too many “things” that distract us, from toys to online streaming, what is our state of the arts, creative and culture sectors in Singapore?

Are we doing enough, or do we have to lose it before we start to appreciate, is it too late and too little? While I am not most immersed into independent films, their influence and impacts on the arts, culture and creatives have an impact on developing my creative aspects in my visual storytelling and writing.

Personally, it can be difficult to prioritise which areas of arts, creative and culture sectors that we want to be interested in and be a part of. Once we put our time and money into a few of them, others might get neglected, and when another bites the dust, we also feel the disappointment that we haven’t done enough to spend some time and our monetary support there.

There are also arts, culture and creative sectors that are getting the support and attendance. It’s such a mixed bag on two ends of the spectrum, some have it better, how many are struggling? How many more of those “another one bites the dust” before we wake up and support our local arts, creative, and culture sectors in Singapore better, with our time and wallet?

Of Many Thoughts and Views

Experiencing two different sides of the stories in the heritage, culture, arts, performing arts and creative sectors, I have many thoughts and views, I might write it down more personal and in-depth.

Reflecting deeply, where and how I could adapt, the delicate balance between revenue from photography work to personal visual storytelling and documentation? Where and how I can help and support each other in the heritage, culture, arts, performing arts and creative sectors in Singapore? 

Many thoughts and views to ponder deeply, planning, changing and strategising ahead.

NUSPS Montage 2025 Photo Competition

When NUSPS announced the theme for NUSPS Montage 2025 photo competition, “Singapore in Focus 2025: Past, Present, and Future”. This theme caught my attention, that sounds something close to my heart. 

A fitting theme for 2025 as Singapore is celebrating her SG60 celebrations. Since I am working on my personal SG60 visual storytelling / photography project, why not I enter Montage 2025 and give a go, and see how I would fare?

With that in mind, I started digging through my photography archives, choosing 5 photographs for submission to Montage 2025 photo competition.

NUSPS Montage 2025 Seminar 

The NUSPS Montage 2025 Seminar was held on 23 August 2025 at NUS Shaw Foundation Alumni House, they have invited the following speakers that are subject matter experts in their respective fields of photography.

• Daryl Yeo – Beauty of the Untamed (Wildlife and nature photography insights from the field)
• Bob Lee – Art of Storytelling through Photography (Emotion, narrative, and the power of images)
• Chris Ambler – Gone in a Flash (Mastering lightning and night photography)
• Celestia Tan – Capturing Style: Mastering Fashion Photography (Techniques and trends in fashion shoots)

As a wildlife photographer and travel photographer myself, hearing and viewing Daryl’s wildlife photography adventures were an inspiration and information gathering, especially on destinations for wildlife photography adventures and also which camera bodies and lenses that I should be lusting for. 

Bob’s art of storytelling is a masterclass in its own right, one of the best visual storytellers using emotions, narrative and power of his photographs to tell his amazing and heartwarming stories to the world. As a visual storyteller myself, a huge inspiration and how I can improve myself in telling my visual stories.

Chris’s lightning photography is very insightful and helpful. I first met him during Canon PhotoMarathon 2025, great to catch up with him again during NUSPS Montage 2025. I finally got to learn his lightning photography tips, and I hope to produce more lightning photos whenever I get the chance.

Fashion photography is a genre that I have to admit, I don’t have the flair for fashion industry, even though I can relate to the portraiture and lighting aspects of fashion photography. Hearing Celestial’s insightful sharing on the world of fashion photography, from a mood board to plan your fashion photography shoot, doing fashion research and getting inspiration. While I am probably not going to get into fashion photography, I learnt something from Celestia’s sharing, that would be helpful should I assist fashion or lifestyle photographers in their photography shoots.

20th Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition (NAPE) 2025

The Ngee Ann Photography Exhibition (NAPE) is one of Singapore’s biggest photography exhibitions since its inauguration in 2005, with the aim to promote local photography art. This 20th NAPE celebrates 60 years of national building, 180 years of The Ngee Ann Kongsi and inspiring photographic arts for generations.

Start of NDP 2025 rehearsals

Leading up to Singapore’s 60th SG60 National Day Parade (NDP) birthday celebration on 9th August 2025, that means the start of NDP 2025 rehearsals in June. Back for fireworks and NDP 2025 action at Marina Bay!

Personal SG60 Photography Project Updates

I am still working on my personal SG60 photography project, a work-in-progress, leveraging on the photography competitions that I recently entered, along with upcoming ones, to add on to my pool of current and archival visual storytelling that I would help and inspire me with my curation, layout and creative direction of my personal SG60 photography project. 

It’s been some years since I last published a zine or a photo book. This year 2025 SG60 theme would be a perfect fit to come back into producing and publishing photography zines again. Stay tuned and keep a lookout!

Exploring new opportunities 

It’s not a rosy situation out there, a weak and slow economy, lesser businesses and deals out there, cut in budgets, very challenging times ahead. 

Exploring new opportunities and opportunities, hopefully there would be a new light at the end of the tunnel, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when the storm clears.

Experience CITY SingaPOP through the eyes of French visual designer Nicolas Damiens

Experience CITY SingaPOP through the eyes of French visual designer Nicolas Damiens, his views and perspectives of Singapore’s city and urban landscapes are transformed into pastel colours artistic style that blows your mind away in CITY SingaPOP.

Nicolas first came to Singapore in December 2021, he found himself mesmerised by Singapore’s city and urban landscapes. Through his art works, you can visualise Nicolas exploring Singapore’s streets, capturing familiar landmarks as well as our heartland neighbourhoods into City Pop Art – an artistic style that presents urban environments with pastel colours, invoking a sense of nostalgia and retro like feel, kind of bringing you back to the good old days (for those old enough to remember).

His distinctive artistic style of blending old/heritage and modern architecture of today with eye popping bold pastel colours, gives us local Singaporeans and visitors to Singapore, uniquely fresh looks and perspectives on Singapore’s diverse city and urban landscapes that we would never imagine it to be.

CITY SingaPOP is a collaboration between Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Embassy of France in Singapore, for the 2025 vOila! France Singapore Festival. There is a total of 70 artworks presented by Nicolas Damiens at the exhibition. 

A perfect gift to celebrate Singapore’s 60th year (SG60) birthday in 2025, this also commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and France. Nicolas beautiful artworks bridged two different cultures together in a most fitting way of bright artistic pastel colours with Singapore’s city and urban landscapes, history, heritage and culture.

For my TGH Photography Business segment, I won’t go into too much detail, just a brief outline, I have already been reflecting and reviewing 2024 photography business. Upon review and reflections, I am going to rebalance some segments of my commercial photography services.

Content creation would get more feature and attention, as part of my photography business diversification and extension of my social media/digital marketing. Working on a content creation media kit, together with an updated photography media kit for Year 2025.

Year 2025 is also Singapore’s SG60 celebrations, the 60th year of Singapore’s independence. Theme for SG60 is “Building Our Singapore Together”. 

What are some of the things, moments, history, heritage, culture that defines it? Letting my creative juice and thinking come out with SG60 special them visual storytelling project.

Everything is Ephemere

I previously shared in an update that I am a writer for this photography platform ephemere. Currently, I am in the midst of an article submission, first draft is completed, pending review and further editing. Hopefully, I would be able to provide more updates soon.

CNY 2025 Preparations and Spring Cleaning

Chinese New Year (CNY) 2025 is just round the corner, just a few weeks away. The first and second day of Chinese New Year 2025 falls on 29 January and 30 January. While I am getting things kickstarted and moving into higher gears, I am also making CNY 2025 preparations and spring cleaning. 

Not planning to do too much for CNY shopping for new clothes, preparing a spring cleaning schedule to welcome the Chinese New Year 2025, as well as for my new financial work year 2025.

For the year 2025, I would be sharing more about my plans for the year ahead in my upcoming Yearly Theme 2025 (Photography | Travel | Creative | Heritage) article. This would be my 5th year doing a Yearly Theme (since 2020) instead of the goals settings and objectives format. The first week of January 2025 would be set aside for strategic planning, administrative matters and clearing up some backlogs. 

Thank you everyone, my family, relatives, supporters and followers on my visual storytelling and content creation journey over the years. Year 2025 is also SG60, I might get my creative juices going and start a special visual storytelling project theme for SG60!

Since I didn’t head out on New Year Eve 2025 to photograph the countdown fireworks, I decided to use a fireworks photo from NDP 2024 CR2 and I Light Singapore 2024 to welcome Year 2024 and also to wish all my family, friends, supporters and followers a Happy New Year 2025!

Yearly Theme 2024 (Photography | Travel | Creative | Heritage) – Ignite 

Before I start on my reflections and review of Year 2024, let me bring you back in time to January 2024 when I wrote and published my Yearly Theme 2024 (Photography | Travel | Creative | Heritage) – Ignite. 

While I didn’t manage to ignite my travel photography and travel related segments, I did manage to ignite my visual storytelling, writing and content creation.  

Photography

Photography is both work/business as well as personal interest/visual storyteller, what’s YR2024 like for my photography segments?

Photography (Business)

This industry is getting more challenging and difficult, a shrinking market pie, shrinking marketing budgets and there are more photographers in this industry (whether full-time, content creators or freelancers). Add in geo-political situations and slow/poor world economic situations, year 2024 can be a tricky year for many of us creatives, photographers, videographers.

The year 2024 had been a number of ups and downs for my TGH Photography business, the cyclical nature of events (business or leisure), conferences/exhibitions, and various photography genres, do make running a photography business a balancing act at times.

Looking back at 2024, reviewing and reflecting, on top of bringing in more photography business deals, I would also need to look at planning and trying to ensure a more regular and consistent photography shoots, along with content creation assignments/projects throughout the year.

Photography (Personal)

Quite a fruitful and fulfilling YR2024 for my personal photography although I wasn’t creating and publishing visual stories as much as I would love to. Here are some significant happenings that took place in my personal photography journeys in YR2024:

• Getting onboard as a writer for ephemere Tokyo, has given me an international platform to broaden my visual storytelling horizons and perspectives, let’s see where this brings me in 2025
• Following, supporting and documenting In A Rainbow for the year 2024 and Modulation: Amalgamation exhibition by House of VSE
• A fruitful bird photography 2024 during bird migration seasons Jan – Mar 2024 and Oct – Dec 2024

Travel 

I didn’t go for any overseas travel in 2024, it’s time to break this barren travel period and restart my travel in 2025. Only when I return back to my overseas travel photography, would I be able to do more or revive my travel photography projects/plans. 

Although the overseas travel photography assignment didn’t materialise, I just have to continue working on them until the opportunity arises in the near future. Moreover, I can make use of my personal travel photography trips to produce a new set of travel photography portfolios for future travel photography/writing collaborations and projects. 

Creative/Content Creation  

Beside my TGH Photography business, I have been building up my Content Creation / Digital Marketing / Social Media Marketing business over the years. This segment had a slower growth over the years due to ever-changing social media industry, media consumption patterns and trends. 

In 2024, it did “Ignite” for my content creation/social media marketing, through collaborations with other content creators, working on different content creation approaches, and potentially opening up more opportunities to collaborate with organisations, agencies and other content creators in 2025.

Heritage 

Looking back at the many different photographs I took in 2024, there were a few heritage related events that I covered. Overall, I reckon I could have more done more, and also getting my personal heritage projects completed. 

In 2025, I would probably be working on finishing up my personal heritage projects that I started years back, and if there are opportunities to work on suitable heritage related project/topics, I hope to come onboard. Another area that might have more coverage in 2025 could be more on cultural heritage.

A final note to reflect and wrap up Year 2024

Walking through this rainbow light artwork portal by Very Small Exhibition – Very Momentary Exhibition 1.5, let’s bid goodbye to Year 2024, learn from the life lessons and experiences in 2024, take the good and put behind the bad. 

Let’s all be kind to one another and help one another as much as possible, let’s also not be judgemental.

I haven’t been publishing much stories in recent months, I was facing a mix of situations, from exhaustion, fatigue, writers block, finding new business, as well as working on new visual stories, content creation, catching up on some backlogs that I am planning to clear them in January 2025. Meanwhile, I am also preparing my review and reflections for Year 2024 in my photography, travel, heritage sectors. 

Last but not least, thank you very much for your support for my photography (commercial and personal), travel and tourism, leisure and recreation, hospitality, as well as history, heritage and culture, content creation and writing for Year 2024.

WMBD 2024 Theme – Insects

The WMBD 2024 theme – Insects, might not seem that directly linked to WMBD at a start. However, insects are important for migratory birds. The 2024 theme also highlights concerns on decreasing population of insects and natural environments.

A recent Straits Times article published in May 2024, “Migratory bird declines point to large scale ecological changes across Southeast Asia”. Since Singapore is a hub for migratory birds on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and it’s also a pitstop for birds migrating along the Central Asian Flyway as well. This would definitely be of interest to wildlife scientists and researchers in Singapore and in Southeast Asia region.

Birds play crucial roles in the natural environment, from pollination and pest control. In the context of a lack of insects, the ecosystem would be affected. If certain insects are overpopulated, and without the presence of birds as natural predators, that can also disrupt the ecosystem, causing outbreaks that damage plant health and agriculture.

Singapore – A hub for migratory birds on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and Central Asian Flyway

Just like Singapore is a global air transit hub for the world with our iconic internationally famous Changi Airport, Singapore is also a hub for migratory birds on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway, as well for birds migrating along the Central Asian Flyway as well. Singapore is indeed a major migratory bird hub/stopover destination. 

Singapore is part of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway, migratory birds making a pitstop in Singapore, giving bird photographers here in Singapore many opportunities to photograph them in action, the diversity and beauty of those migratory bird species. 

Recent research findings over the past few years have also indicated that Singapore’s status as a major migratory bird hub has grown in stature, Singapore now has become the intersection of 2 major flyways, adding the Central Asian-Indian Flyway to the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.

Singapore, a small country by land size, now can play a bigger and wider international role in the migratory birds journey with those 2 major flyways, a transit hub for migratory birds.

Kickstarting my migratory bird photography adventures 2024 on World Migratory Bird Day 2024 (12th October)

It’s the start of a new migratory bird season in October 2024, I am kickstarting my migratory bird photography adventures 2024 on World Migratory Bird Day 2024 (12th October) with a rare migrant bird – Northern Boobook at Healing Garden, Singapore Botanic Gardens, photographed on 12th October 2024.

There are still a number of migratory birds and local birds as well, that I haven’t managed to photograph. Along with my migratory bird photography adventures, I would continue to do so, updating and uploading my bird photography collections into this Flickr photo album. 

I am combining bird photography and outdoors/nature photography in nature reserves, parks, coastal areas. Outdoors, nature and bird/wildlife photography, always great therapeutic visual storytelling adventure for me.
