80-millionth Canon EF Lenses

The introduction of the Canon EOS M was a milestone achievement in Canon‘s illustrious and long history. On the 3rd August 2012, Canon achieved another milestone with the production of the 80-millionth Canon EF Lenses. I am a avid Canon user and adding quality Canon lenses is always on my mind to my current lineup of Canon EF Lenses.

Let me share some information on the Canon EF lenses with my readers. Canon’s EF lens series was first introduced together with the EOS SLR camera system in March 1987, and has over the years led the industry through the incorporation of a number of innovative technologies, including such world’s firsts* such as the Ultrasonic Motor (USM) for use in lenses, Image Stabilizer (IS), a multi-layered diffractive optical (DO) element, and Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) anti-reflection technology. Production of interchangeable EF lenses for Canon EOS-series AF (autofocus) single-lens reflex cameras began in 1987 at the company’s Utsunomiya Plant, and has since expanded to a total of four production facilities including Canon Inc., Taiwan; Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.; and Oita Canon Inc. in Japan.
