An Exquisite Peranakan Experience at the Intan

Going back in time to a few years back, I can’t remember when and where I met this bloke, he’s very friendly and nice. His name is Alvin Yapp and he’s the owner of a private museum in Singapore, the Intan, preserving and celebrating everything Peranakan. This is my heartfelt story of an exquisite Peranakan experience at the Intan. How I met Alvin was most likely to be a museum event, I was introduced by Belinda, the great connector and networker. “Come and visit the Intan!” Alvin said to me. “Alright, sure!” I replied to Alvin. Fast forward to 16th …

Canon EOS R Review

The Canon EOS R was announced in September 2018, their first full-frame mirrorless camera. This camera got the photography community talking about it, a hot topic because they were the new kid on the block (in the full-frame mirrorless camera segment) joining Sony and Nikon in this particular full-frame mirrorless camera segment. When the Canon EOS R was launched, I got the opportunity to have a feel and short hands on experience during an event. However, due to the huge popularity and massive attention on the first Canon full-frame mirrorless camera, I didn’t get the opportunity to do the Canon …

Keppel Hill Reservoir

Trekking up the small road uphill, we saw a dirt track to the left of the small road.  I said to Isaac, “That’s the entry point, we need to turn in and continue trekking, this would soon lead us to Keppel Hill Reservoir”. As we continued trekking, there was a cross road inside the forested area, turn right or go straight? Using my scouting instincts, I decided that we go straight. Just a bit more, we were going to reach our destination that we wanted to explore. I saw a foot path opened up by human beings, my explorer and …

Whisky with a View Project – SG Edition

My journey with whisky appreciation grew exponentially after my maiden visit to the home of one of my favourite whisky brands, Nikka whisky in Hokkaido, Japan in 2016. A pilgrimage to Yoichi distillery, the birthplace of Nikka whisky, walking through a whisky history, heritage and culture, tasting and enjoying whisky, surrounded by gorgeous mountain and river beside the distillery. Over time, I slowly build up a small whisky collection as well as personal photography projects before arriving at Whisky with a view project – SG Edition. Whisky with a view project was partially inspired by this account on Instagram, traveling …

The Real Nasi Lemak Burger

In 2014, I met this nice friendly bloke at Haw Par Villa, there was a Singapore Tourism Board event “Reliving the memories of Haw Par Villa”. There was a pop up food village at the STB event and he was selling his dessert, the durian crème brulee. While I am not a durian lover, I had to say his crème brulee is really delicious. Since then, he had grown, expanded and transformed in the food business, producing his iconic Modern Singapore Cuisine. Today, I would like to introduce to you, his latest Modern Singapore Cuisine, the Real Nasi Lemak Burger …
