Here’s the press release on the Asia Traveller Protection Programme –

Canon has launched the Asia Traveller Protection Programme (ATPP), a complimentary service reinforcing Canon’s commitment to customer service. This value-added initiative provides customers access to professional Canon repair services for their cameras and lenses across 12 markets in Asia. Canon customers can travel easy, knowing that unexpected costs of repairs on their travels will be reimbursed back in their home country. The flexible and timely solution to resolve potential equipment problems promises Canon customers reliable care and greater peace of mind.

“For the avid traveller, having to forgo capturing precious moments due to unforeseen accidents happening to their device can be disappointing. The ATPP aims to promote a holistic Canon experience and expand the boundaries of the Canon ecosystem and protect photographers’ equipments while they are travelling within the Asia region.” said Edwin Teoh, Assistant Director, Consumer Business Marketing, Canon Singapore.

How the ATPP works

Availing of the ATPP is easy. Upon purchase of Canon products from authorised distributors/ channels, customers can register for warranty online, via their home country’s Canon official website. Products should still be under their warranty period[1] when presented for repair.

The ATPP covers EOS digital SLR camera, compact interchangeable-lens digital camera, EF lenses, and PowerShot / IXUS compact digital camera products. As long as the Canon products have been used in accordance with the instruction manual and operating guidelines, the ATPP covers malfunctions under normal circumstances.

This programme runs across 12 markets – China, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam[2].

Should the need for repair arise during the customers’ travel to any of the 12 countries, they can simply visit the local authorised Canon Service Centre for the required repair and retain all necessary proofs and receipts. Upon return, by producing proof of warranty and repair at the designated Canon Service Centre, reimbursement can be processed.
