Support Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole 2013 on 1st June

On the Saturday morning, 1st June 2013, you and your family members, loved ones and friends can all join together for a meaningful and fun charity walk event in Singapore without shoes. This is the 5th edition of Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole 2013 that would be held at Gardens By The Bay East, Tanjong Rhu. I had supported the Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole in 2011 and 2012, it had been a good experience to be part of this charity walk event and I was glad to help the needy people. Last year’s 2012 event saw 5,000 participants take part, with over S$300,000 raised for Habitat for Humanity Singapore. The organisers hope to see more than 5,000 pairs of bare feet for Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole 2013.

For Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole 2013, they will be helping to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s ‘Project Homeworks’. The project was conceived to improve the living conditions of Singapore’s elderly, sick and physically-challenged citizens living in one-room flats all over the island. In Singapore, as many as 35,000 people are living alone in unsafe and unsanitary conditions. Being elderly, sick or handicapped, these people are unable to clean their homes effectively. Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole 2013 will help raise funds for these local beneficiaries and increase awareness for the project. Through ‘Project Homeworks’, volunteers are mobilised to help clean-up these homes and in turn, improve the lives of many Singaporeans.

Singapore has enjoyed tremendous growth and prosperity today, with modern high rise developments and a good standard of living. However, there are fellow Singaporeans that are not able to catch up with the growth and prosperity, thus some of them have fallen behind the rest of the society today due to their circumstances. We can all help them to make a difference to these group of fellow Singaporeans that have fallen behind through your contributions.
