Canon launched the PowerShot SX720 HS, the latest addition to the range of high zoom SX series compact cameras. Harnessing the power of DIGIC 6 image processor and an increased zoom capability of 40x, the new PowerShot SX720 HS promises high zoom performance with enhanced video recording features in a compact and lightweight package.

Capture details up close with 40x zoom
With a high zoom capability of 40x (24 – 960mm) and up to 80x with Canon’s ZoomPlus technology, the PowerShot SX720 HS is equipped with one of the highest zoom capability in its class. Not only will users will be able to capture images of subjects such as animals and scenery at a distance, the Zoom Framing Assist feature aids zoom stability, reduces subject blurring, and enables users to centre on specific objects and track them quickly for super telephoto photography. Coupled with the optical Image Stabilisation (IS) feature that reduces the effect of camera shake, users can focus on composing their desired shot without worrying about image quality.
The built-in Auto Zoom function is now able to automatically analyse the scene and determine the appropriate size and framing for the shot. The camera’s new Face ID capability is also able to evaluate the subject’s age and adjust the focus accordingly. Framing precision is enhanced with this added feature, allowing users to easily achieve a well-framed shot.
Bringing memories to life with movie features
With the Short Clip Movie feature on the PowerShot SX720 HS, users will be able to capture a series of 4 to 6-seconds movie snippets, which may be played back at different speeds – normal, fast, action replay, or slow motion for stylistic effects. The advanced story highlights feature is capable of analysing the content, appending the relevant colour effects, and background music that suit the narrative. These features allow users to bring to life precious moments captured on camera for users to share them on social media platforms.
Capture and share on the go
With its built-in Wi-Fi and Near Field Communications (NFC) capabilities, it is easy to instantly share photos and movies on social media platforms from their phones. Users can simply utilise the dedicated Wi-Fi button on the PowerShot SX720 HS, or tap the NFC compatible device to the PowerShot SX720 HS to establish a connection. These connectivity features will bring about limitless creative photo possibilities with remote shooting via a smart phone or tablet.
