Here I am, going to share my Canon EOS R and EOS RP stories, what are the stories all about? The Canon EOS R, the first full-frame mirrorless camera from Canon was announced on 5th September 2018, with a lot of big fanfare, international media and worldwide photographers attention on Canon and their first full-frame mirrorless camera.

Packed with such huge publicity and attention, the Canon EOS R was a popular camera and I only got the opportunity to review this camera recently, after Canon announced the Canon EOS RP full-frame mirrorless on 14th February 2019, a low cost mirrorless full-frame camera  to join the Canon EOS R family. The Canon EOS RP did not receive as much publicity and attention compared to her older sibling, the Canon EOS R.

With these two new Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera models available, this was also a suitable time for my parents to upgrade from Canon’s first mirrorless camera, the EOS M to Canon’s first full-frame mirrorless camera.

I was able to have the Canon EOS R (a review unit) and Canon EOS RP (a shared new family camera) both together at the same time, giving my ideas and inspirations to create the Canon EOS RP Explorer Stories – Shot on Canon EOS R, a continuation from my “New Profile Photos, A New Adventure Begins” and “Follow me on my Canon Mini Photo Prints Adventures” photography stories.

The new Canon EOS RP also marks  the start of a new journey, learning a new skill – filmmaking / videography, to complement and expand my current skills and knowledge, holding truth to my personal and professional philosophy on lifelong learning. I have embarked on learning how to be a director of photography, the camera man, the cinematographer, to planning and writing my own script, ideas and story boards, through learning from my friends who are film and video trained and getting hands on with the Canon EOS R and Canon EOS RP.

Coming soon, the Canon EOS R review article would be published first, followed by the Canon EOS RP review article. I would also share on why I (and my family) chose the Canon EOS RP over the Canon EOS R. On the other hand, I am also looking at adding on my experiences and thoughts from the Canon EOS R and Canon EOS RP to this photography article that I recently published “The Canon Mirrorless Journey from EOS M to EOS R

A very short teaser and introductory video “Canon EOS RP Explorer Stories”, shot on Canon EOS R by fellow EOS WorldCommunity Ambassador Isaac Ong. My Canon EOS RP Explorer Stories is a work-in-progress, I hope to shoot a few more location scenes (based on my script, expectations, directions and locations) before asking for friends’ help to edit and put them together into a short film.

Here’s another short film/video of the Canon EOS R in action. Presenting a sneak preview of Carpmael Street Bazaar, they are opening very soon in the month of March 2019! An Antique Centre Atelier by Vintage Flea Market by The Retro Factory.

This is produced by Hong Peng from Hpility SG, a joint production with me playing a very minor part in this short film video! Shot on Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera with RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens, this new camera from Canon is ideal for producing short films and videos!

A new journey, a new hope, a new adventure, I am looking forward to learning and improving my skills and knowledge in filmmaking, thus giving me an added edge to my photography services portfolio and also to my creative + digital agency collaboration business approach with friends who are professionals and experts in their respective fields.
