On 5th February 2026, Canon Inc announced the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III Commemorative Edition – Celebrating 30 years of PowerShot. Year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of Canon’s Powershot digital compact camera lineup. Marking this special occasion, a PowerShot G7 X Mark III model featuring a special-edition colour in limited quantity and 30th anniversary logo will be released.
History of Canon PowerShot
The inaugural Canon PowerShot was launched in July 1996, the PowerShot 600. Since the launch in 1996, the PowerShot lineup has expanded to cater to diverse user needs. The PowerShot series is developed for users to enjoy capturing high-quality photos and videos with greater ease. They are embraced by users of all levels from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. Overall production volume of compact digital cameras including the IXUS series exceeded 200 million units in December 2025 worldwide.
