The global pandemic Covid-19 has caused massive impacts to the economy and daily living around the world. We are all in a fight against this global pandemic led by healthcare and frontline heroes protecting and taking of us. In Singapore, our dedicated and selfless healthcare and frontline heroes are fronting this battle. This August, McDonald’s® will pay a special tribute to our healthcare and frontline heroes by launching the “Big Thanks” initiative. The nationwide initiative is a way of recognising our frontline heroes for their courage, selflessness and dedication in helping the nation battle COVID-19. Let’s all unite together and give “Big Thanks” to applaud Singapore’s healthcare and frontline heroes!

Everyone can join in the tribute to say a “Big Thanks”

From 1st August to 5th August 2020, everyone can join in the tribute to say a “Big Thanks” by purchasing the “Big Thanks Burger” (Big Mac) at any McDonald’s restaurant in Singapore, as a way of saying a big “Thank You”. For every order of a “Big Thanks Burger” (Big Mac), a complimentary burger will then be donated to a frontline hero in the following weeks.

McDonald’s® aims to donate over 25,000 “Big Thanks Burgers” to our heroes from organisations including the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), SCDF Emergency Medical Services (EMS), National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Orange Valley Nursing Home. Apart from healthcare heroes doctors and nurses, these burgers will also be donated to other frontline heroes, including cleaners and administrative staff. (1)

Pen down your heartfelt “Big Thanks” and share

Customers that purchase the “Big Thanks Burger” can also share their messages of appreciation to our healthcare and frontline heroes just by simply taking a photo of their “Big Thanks Burger” and burger box, with a caption that expresses your gratitude, thanks and support for them, post it on your social media platforms, remember to tag @mcdsg with the hashtag #mcdbigthanks!

The unprecedented pandemic has changed the way we live, work and support one another. As we celebrate National Day in August as a community, it’s only fitting that we pay a special tribute to our healthcare and frontline heroes who have been tirelessly fighting COVID-19 and taking care of us. This small gesture of appreciation on our part is our way of saying big thanks, and we humbly invite Singaporeans to join us in showing support for them as we continue to battle the virus,” said Kenneth Chan, Managing Director, McDonald’s® Singapore.

The “Big Thanks” campaign is recognised by Eat for Good, a collaborative initiative by National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre’s (NVPC) Company of Good that aims to bring stakeholders in the F&B space together to make doing good a part of daily encounters.

Let’s all say a “Big Thanks” to all of Singapore’s healthcare and frontline heroes especially during the past few months fighting this global pandemic Covid-19, keeping us safe with their courage, selflessness, commitment, sacrifice and dedication during this difficult and period for us in Singapore. Let’s all be #SGUnited together during this ongoing battle against Covid-19 global pandemic, Pay It Forward and Pass It On, with “Big Thanks”!
